Saturday sees the Reds take on a team infamous with the history of Liverpool Football Club and it promises to be another preaseason cracker.

The Guinness Champions Cup has been so far, so good, for Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool with victories over Olympiakos and Manchester City all-but guaranteeing progression to the knock out stages, the Reds are in buoyant mood.

AC Milan, however, have had a less than pleasant opening to the tournament after suffering a 5-1 demolition at the hands of Manchester City and Jovetic. The contrasting fortunes of both sides comes to a head this Saturday, when  AC Milan take on LFC in Charlotte, North-Carolina.

Liverpool FC fans can be excited by the prospect of this match, which should see Lazar Markovic make his second appearance for the club after he was kept out of the City clash with a slight knock; Martin Skrtel is likely to also return for the club after also missing the City clash. Not only will Reds across the land be looking forward to the return of Markovic and Skrtel - Emre Can is another name on fans lips at the moment. Assured displays in all preseason friendlies so far this term have lead many to tip Can for big things next season, it seems that LFC finally have a physical presence to their midfield! The new boys, as well as the more familiar faces of Raheem Sterling, the mercurial Phillipe Coutinho and the wriggling arms of Daniel Sturridge, will provide stiff competition for the Italians in North Carolina.

AC Milan, albeit, will be no push over for LFC and the Reds mustn't underestimate the challenge ahead in The Guinness Champions Cup this Saturday. The once Italian giants are in a phase of transition but do indeed still have plenty to be optimistic about. The ever unpredictable Mario Balotelli may potentially turn up and run the show (but may equally walk around a bit and not do much else), Stephan El Shaarawy is a dangerous goal scoring wide man and his return from injury could potentially spell trouble for the current crop of Liverpool full-backs & De Sciglio is himself one of the best young full-backs in word football - cause for concern. LFC may have the edge in terms of performance so far but this game certainly has the potential to be a competitive one.

Preseason is of course, only preseason but the tournament style of The Guinness Champions Cup has proved to be a strong arena for testing the squad and gelling in new faces.

Regardless of competitive edge, Liverpool FC vs. AC Milan and all it's nostalgia is always a game worth staying awake for.
