New Liverpool signing Mario Balotelli could make his debut on Saturday, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.

The Italy international completed a £16million switch from AC Milan to Anfield on Monday, and was in the stands to look his new side beaten 3-1 at the hands of title rivals Manchester City that evening.

Liverpool were confortably defeated at the Etihad, but will be boosted by the arrival of Balotelli in their next outing.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the 24-year-old is avaliable to play at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

He told the club's website: "I think by the weekend [he'll be ready to feature].

"He's been into pre-season and he's played three 45-minute games. He might not be up to full match speed, but he's looking fit.

"We've done some analysis on him. The medical and sports science team have worked with him already and he's in very, very good condition.

"He's in to work and he'll be available for the squad for the weekend."

Should he feature against Tottenham Hotspur, it will be Balotelli's first Premier League appearence since he left Manchester City for AC Milan in January 2013.

Balotelli scored 27 times in 36 league games for the Citizens, but his onfield talents were often overshadowed by his off the field antics.

Brednan Rodgers will be hoping he can keep the enigmatic Italian under control as he looks to get his side's title challenge back on track, starting with Spurs on Saturday.
