With the final day of the 2014 summer transfer window finally here, how have the Reds got on in their recent deadline days?

January 2010 - Quite frankly, nothing happened on deadline day of the 2010 winter window - though a couple of moves went through the next month, in addition to a few earlier in January. Liverpool welcomed Maxi Rodriguez on a costless from Atletico Madrid, whilst also signing Raheem Sterling for £500,000 from QPR in late February. Both turned out to enjoy considerable success, with Rodriguez becoming a fan favourite and Sterling having the potential to become one of the club's best players. Meanwhile, on their way out, transfer failures Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin left the club and goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov left for FC Twente for £1.5 million in February. Still, as far as deadline day went - literally nothing happened, so not much to talk about there.

Summer 2010 - It was a deadline day largely to forget on August 31st 2010, as Roy Hodgson's final window in charge was one that went down like a lead balloon. Liverpool sold once promising French youngster Damien Plessis to Panathinaikos for an unknown fee, and sacrificed promising youngsters Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic in order to pursue Hodgson's top target Paul Konchesky, whom they also paid an extra £3.5 million for on top of those youth talents. That proved to be a miserable failure, when Konchesky failed miserably to make an impact at Anfield - only managing to frustrate supporters, who clearly identified that the ageing left-back wasn't of the required quality to play for the club. One shining light however, was the signing of Spanish talent Suso - who is still very highly-regarded at Anfield despite failing to make a consistent breakthrough at the club. Overall, a fairly disappointing deadline day, and perhaps a pretty poor window in total. (Liverpool welcomed Joe Cole, Milan Jovanovic, Christian Poulsen, Danny Wilson, Jonjo Shelvey and saw the back of Javier Mascherano, Fabio Aurelio, Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun)

January 2011 - Perhaps one of the most famous deadline days in Liverpool's history, Kenny Dalglish's side welcome the hot-and-cold duo of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll as they attempted to replace former frontman Fernando Torres who made the £50 million move to Chelsea. For a small amount of time, Suarez became the club's record signing as the Reds spent £22.8 million on sealing the Uruguayan's signature from Ajax. He was brought in to potentially partner Torres, until he handed in a transfer request and left for Liverpool's Premier League rivals. In an attempt to replace his impact, impressive Newcastle United powerhouse Andy Carroll was brought in for a massively inflated fee of £35 million. A fee that rivals have never let Liverpool forget about since, considering how big of a flop he was. Sure, he had a few moments - a motivating last minute winner at Blackburn, a vital goal against Everton at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Finals and a superb brace against Manchester City at home. However, on the whole, his form and fitness counted against him and his arrival was a desperate last-ditch attempt to make up for Torres' loss. To date, he remains the club's most expensive signing and he will certainly go down in the club's history, but not for all the right reasons.

Summer 2011 - Liverpool actually did a fair bit of business on deadline day this time around, but it was more concerning those leaving the club, than new players entering the fold. Saying that, the Reds welcomed back Craig Bellamy for a second stint, after he arrived on a costless from Manchester City, and he would certainly go on to prove his worth. Sebastian Coates had also joined only the day before, impressing for Uruguay and tempting Liverpool to spend almost £5 million on the tall centre-back. On the way out, failed signings Christian Poulsen and Philipp Degen made way for an undisclosed fee and on a costless, whilst David N'Gog left for Bolton for £4 million and Raul Meireles commanded a £12 million fee from Chelsea. Overall, a fairly successful deadline day for the club.

January 2012 - Another dull transfer window, nevermind a deadline day. Liverpool welcomed young Jordon Ibe from Wycombe Wanderers and loaned out Danny Wilson to Blackpool and did absolutely nothing else. The Reds finished a hugely disappointing eighth the same year, prompting Kenny Dalglish's sacking.

Summer 2012 - An inaugural deadline day was a little bit quiet, as despite the Reds' welcoming of Samed Yesil for £1 million the day before the window ended, there were no fresh faces on the 31st of August. Rodgers did decide to let go of Nathan Eccleston, for an unknown fee as he made the move to Blackpool having failed to break through the ranks at Anfield, and failed Kenny Dalglish signing Charlie Adam, switched to Stoke City for roughly £5 million. Largely, it was an opening window to forget - with Oussama Assaidi, Fabio Borini and Nuri Sahin all failing to make their mark, regardless of the mixed success of utility midfielder Joe Allen.

January 2013 - Rodgers' first January window at Anfield was quite a big one, having welcomed Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho for a combined fee of £20 million, but the deadline day was a little more low-key. The Reds did see the arrival of highly-rated youngster João Carlos Teixeira from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £830,000 after he impressed in the NextGen Series as Sporting thrashed Liverpool 3-0 on Merseyside, and they also saw the departure of Brazilian goalkeeper Doni, who had been away from action for a long time after it was revealed he had suffered a heart attack, as he moved to Botafogo. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire in August as a result of his heart problems.

Summer 2013 - Liverpool welcomed a few new additions in Brendan Rodgers' second summer transfer window, and Mamadou Sakho, Victor Moses and Tiago Ilori all made the move to Anfield on deadline day. The Reds spent £22 million on the two defenders combined, with Moses coming in on loan from Chelsea. Ultimately, the Nigerian winger proved to be quite a failure at Anfield - despite two goals against Bournemouth in the FA Cup and Swansea on his debut. Sakho, however, despite the critics, looks a very good buy. The French centre-back is calm in possession and very strong in the tackle, but has been branded as "clumsy", but has plenty of time to live up to his price tag. Ilori, meanwhile, has yet to make a professional performance for him. The highly-rated Portuguese defender has made a number of youth appearances, and has spent the rest of his time on loan. He enjoyed a spell at Granada, and is now currently at Bordeaux. In terms of transfers out of the club, Dani Pacheco, made way after maintaining a bit-part role for a long time, as he was sold to Alcorcon in a costless transfer.

January 2014 - After a busy summer, Liverpool didn't bring anybody in during the Winter transfer window and their transfer deadline day was just as dead as they failed in their attempt to bring in Dnipro's Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Ukranian winger was Brendan Rodgers' top target, and he was keen on the move, but the £15 million-rated forward was denied the move by the club's owner. The Reds also let slip Basel's Mohamed Salah just days before, who instead chose to join Chelsea for £11 million. Their only outgoing transfer was youth forward Adam Morgan, who had failed to make the step-up to the first time, as he left for Yeovil Town for an undisclosed fee.

Summer 2014 - Nine additions have been brought in so far, with six having been shown the door and eight loan departures. They have spent a grand total of £116.5 million, having recouped £80 million - leaving a net spend of £36.5 million. Overall, they have had a very strong window indeed. They have boosted their squad depth in defence by adding Javier Manquillo, Alberto Moreno and Dejan Lovren. In midfield, they've brought in Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli up front. Permanently, Conor Coady, Jack Robinson, Pepe Reina, Martin Kelly and of course Luis Suarez have left. Whilst on loan, Jordon Ibe, Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Andre Wisdom, Brad Smith, Divock Origi, Tiago Ilori and Joao Carlos Teixeira have all gone to spend spells elsewhere. What else could happen? There are a number of other potential departures in Fabio Borini, Daniel Agger and Oussama Assaidi, but incomings-wise, the Reds look to be done, as Ian Ayre has confirmed. Still, keep your eyes peeled - you never know.
