Liverpool beat Leicester 3-1 at the King Power Stadium to win back to back games for just the second time this season.  They fell behind early on courtesy of a Simon Mignolet own goal but goals from Adam Lallana, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson were enough to secure the three points for Brendan Rodgers and his team.

Leicester started the game on the front foot but Liverpool looked dangerous on the counter and had the best chance of the early stages when Gerrard crossed to Raheem Sterling but Sterling tried to take the ball round Schmeichel his touch was too heavy and he was forced wide and the chance was gone.

Leicester almost took the lead on twenty minutes when Mignolet tried to pass to Martin Skrtel.  The pass was wayward and Esteban Cambiasso was able to intercept.  With the goal at his mercy Cambiasso put his left footed shot just wide.

Minutes later Leicester did take the lead.  Glen Johnson was caught in possession at the edge of the Leicester box and it was the Foxes turn to counter attack.  Mahrez broke down the wing Johnson had vacated and played Vardy in whose shot hit Mignolet's hand but was still going in until Skrtel cleared off the line.  Ulloa managed to keep the ball from going for a corner and blasted a left footed shot off the post and into the net off Mignolet.

The lead was short lived though and just four minutes later Liverpool levelled.  Sterling won a costless kick when he was fouled right on the edge of the box by Riyad Mahrez.  Gerrard's costless kick was cleared but Lucas was able to play the ball back into the box and Wes Morgan was only able to clear as far as Lallana who struck a fine left footed half volley past Kasper Schmeichel.

Neither side created much for the remainder of the first half with Marcin Wasilewski and Skrtel going closest with headers at set pieces but neither worked the goalkeeper and the teams went in at half time level.

Liverpool took the lead after fifty-four minutes courtesy of their captain, who was doing his utmost to show Rodgers that he made a mistake with his team selection at the weekend.  Gerrard released Sterling on the left and his cross was met by Morgan who was again unable to clear his lines and Gerrard side footed his weak clearance into the Leicester net.

Leicester almost equalised one minute later when Leonardo Ulloa and Cambiasso combined well at the edge of the box but Ulloa fired his shot off target.

Morgan completed his nightmare week by getting himself sent off after sixty-three minutes.  Skrtel headed clear a long ball and it sent Morgan and Rickie Lambert chasing the loose ball down the right.  Morgan made a mess of the back pass and when Lambert looked like breaking clear he was dragged down by Morgan which left the referee with no choice but to send Morgan off.

Gerrard could have sealed the points for Liverpool on seventy-three minutes when he was played through with just Schmeichel to beat.  He tried to round the goalkeeper but Schmeichel stood his ground and Gerrard landed on Schmeichel's standing foot and went down.  Gerrard looked stunned that the referee didn't award the spot kick but it looked to be the right decision.

Leicester almost levelled a minute later when Mahrez beat Moreno before blasting a cross at Mignolet which he was only able to clear as far as Cambiasso.  The Argentine was only able to hit his shot at Vardy and it went wide.

Vardy was the next to go close when Lambert cleared a costless kick but his shot was deflected wide by Skrtel.

The Foxes continued to press and Mahrez had an opportunity on eighty-one minutes but his control was poor and Mignolet was able to pounce on the loose ball before he got his shot away.

Liverpool were able to seal the win two minutes later when Gerrard broke costless on the left. His cross with the outside of his right foot was deflected by Wasilewski and Schmeichel was unable to hold onto it.  Sterling pounced on it and cleverly back heeled the ball into the path of Henderson who was able to fire into the empty net.

Leicester continued to press but the Liverpool defence held firm to secure the win that sends them up to eighth as the Foxes drop to the bottom of the league with no wins in their last nine games.
