Liverpool U19s were worthy winners after a 3-0 win on Tuesday afternoon against FC Basel U19s in the UEFA Youth League. Goals from Ryan Kent, Daniel Cleary and Jerome Sinclair secured victory for the Young Reds and gave them the clear two goal lead they needed to qualify.

Liverpool thought they had made a perfect start in the 11th minute when Sheyi Ojo went down in the area, seemingly winning a penalty but the referee blew his whistle and deemed Ojo to have dived, consequently booking the forward.

The Swiss side began to create chances of their own and came close once from a set piece before an Albian Ajeti strike flew wide when he cut in from the area.

Liverpool thought they had scored when a Pedro Chirivella attacked a Jerome Sinclair cross, however without goal line technology the officials decided it hadn't crossed the line. Replays showed that they made the correct decision.

The hosts were ahead soon after at Langtree Park when, in the 38th minute, Ryan Kent took the ball on and used his blistering pace to outrun the Basel defence and shoot low into the corner of the net. 1-0.
