Jordan Henderson has praised Liverpool's performance, sighting their 'fighting spirit' as the main reason they were able to take something from Sunday's game against Arsenal. He did however, admit that the Reds should have won the game.

Liverpool dominated large parts of the game, reducing Arsenal's possession to the lowest it had been since Opta stats began. They had 27 attempts at Wojciech Szczesny's goal, but it took a 97th minute header from Martin Skrtel to salvage a point and make it 2-2.

Performance

Henderson, speaking to the Liverpool Echo, said that, "The performance levels were much better," and that he believes "You can feel that intensity returning, with getting the ball back and pressuring high up the pitch. The passing, movement and penetration in behind is much better."

Asked about what the performance can do for Liverpool, he said, "Hopefully we can keep building on it and picking up points. We're getting back to the levels we know we can play at, if we can keep at it, the results will follow."

Formation

Brendan Rodgers again utilised the 3-4-3 formation that he used in the previous fixtures against Manchester United and Bournemouth. Raheem Sterling was again deployed in a new found striker role, following on from his two goals midweek: "We've looked good in that formation," Henderson commented. "It's a new position for Raheem in that central role but he's been outstanding with his movement, causing other teams problems. Hopefully he will get better and better. We've also got Daniel [Sturridge] to come back in January which will give us a lift. We all know we've got to kick on."

Spirit

Henderson was clearly frustrated at the result, yet happy Liverpool managed a point: "We showed a lot of character to keep going after the red card and in the end we got the goal. It would have been devastating to lose 2-1, a point was the least we deserved. Over the course of the game we should have got all three, we have to keep the performance level like that. If we do that, then the results will come."

Other Liverpool players took to social media to state their thoughts on the game. Fabio Borini, who was sent off for two bookings after coming on as a substitute, took to Twitter to say: "Sometimes passion gets the better of you.. And tonight I wish I had thought a little more..."

Captain Steven Gerrard hailed Martin Skrtel on Instagram. Attaching a photo of Skrtel celebrating, he said, "This fella is a warrior fair play, not many carry on after that head injury... unbelievable finish to save a point."
