Highly-rated Liverpool youth prospect Jordan Williams has signed a new and improved deal with the club, the player announced on social networking site Twitter.
A regular feature in the U21s side, Williams has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal with the club, keeping him at Anfield until 2017 after impressing at youth level.
The Bangor-born youngster signed his first professional contract with the club in July last year and has gone on to make his debut this season, coming off the bench in a League Cup tie against Middlesbrough in September.
Williams, who can play in central midfield or as a centre-back, kept his cool to net a penalty in the sensational 14-13 penalty shoot-out victory over Boro and has since been an unused substitute in the Reds' FA Cup Third Round win over AFC Wimbledon.
Brendan Rodgers and the club have decided to give him a new deal as a result of his progress and the 19-year-old, who joined from Wrexham in 2009, looks likely to have increased opportunities in the coming months - having trained at Melwood regularly this season.
Known for his composure and passing, the Liverpoolfc.com website states in his player biography that Williams 'is an asset to his side in both his defensive and midfield roles, particularly when he puts into practise his excellent reading of the game.'
The no.49 may feature in the upcoming FA Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers, with Brendan Rodgers hinting he will be looking towards some of Alex Inglethorpe's U21s as he rotates his squad.
