According to rumours in the French press, Liverpool are interested in Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette, who has been impressing with a wonderful goalscoring record in Ligue 1 this season.

The Frenchman, known for his blistering pace and cool finshing, has scored 23 goals in as many games this season seeing Lyon mount a serious title challenge. Liverpool had reportedly been interested in Lacazette before January, before reports died down. However, French media source 'Le10Sport' suggest that Brendan Rodgers is ready to table an offer in the region of £15 million for the striker.

But Lacazette is not the only forward linked with Liverpool this month, the Reds have also been once again linked with Lacazette's fellow countryman Karim Benzema, of Real Madrid. Benzema is currently a main-stay in Madrid's preferred starting 11 however reports suggest that they will target Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, leaving the door open for Benzema to leave. The rumoured bidding fee is said to be £38 million, with the Reds set to go 'all out' to sign the striker, formerly of Lacazette's Lyon.

Any move for a striker could signal an end to Mario Balotelli's time at Liverpool. Balotelli has struggled for form since his £16 million move from AC Milan in the summer, having not yet scored a league goal. Lazio are reportedly interested in making a loan offer for the striker, with a view to a permenant move in the summer. Brendan Rodgers has previously stated that Balotelli wouldn't depart L4 during this window, however it is believed that a sound deal financially for Liverpool could change his mind.

Liverpool face Bolton Wanderers at home on Saturday as they look to progress past the fourth round of the FA Cup.
