Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has admitted he is staying behind in training to address the fact that he doesn't score enough goals for the Reds.

Coutinho’s form has drastically improved in recent months and he’s really becoming menacing to opposition midfielders and defenders, running circles and turning the players inside out with his skills and ball movement and was awarded Liverpool’s man of the match in the Capital One Cup Semi-Final defeat against Chelsea, this past week, but has struggled to find a regular knack for scoring goals. He told the club's official website it is something he intends to rectify.

Coutinho said: "There are always so many things to improve. I’ve been working on assisting my team-mates even further and improving my goal tally as I understand this as being part of my role. I expect to do better on this."

This season, the Brazilian attacking midfielder has missed the target fifteen times in nineteen appearances. Last season, it was incredibly worse, he missed the target nearly double the amount of times, he had a shot on target in thirty-three appearances. So, there is still need for improvement in his shooting ability but it is slowly becoming better.

"In training, I’ve been working with our coaches on specific tasks to better my final touch. Whenever possible, I have post-training sessions to work on improving my shooting accuracy."

Coutinho’s frustration in front of goal was evident after his mazy run through the Chelsea defence but his unbelievable run and effort was superbly saved by the in form Thibaut Courtois.

Coutinho told Liverpoolfc.com that he regularly watches video of his hero, fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho, as inspiration and assessing and comparing his own performances on video.

"I wouldn’t say I’ve been ‘studying’, I like watching football games as much as everyone else does. I've always enjoyeed seeing Ronaldinho play and I watch videos of him to take as an inspiration", admitted Coutinho. "I sometimes also watch videos of myself to see what I have done well and what I could have done better."

As modest as ever, Coutinho believes his performances are a result of the team improving as a whole.

He also stated: "I'm feeling very happy because the team have been playing wel again, this is so important as everyone does better individually when we are doing well as a team. We're constantly looking to improve and, as I said, I for one know I have to improve a few things. I want to be a player who will score goals more often. We're in a good shape at the moment; we'll have a few opportunities to test that in all games and competitions we have ahead of us."
