The last three meetings between Liverpool and Spurs have all resulted in comfortable wins for those in red. 5-0 at White Hart Lane, 4-0 at Anfield and then 3-0 at White Hart Lane, the latter coming at the start of this season. Liverpool's recent domination of the fixture would suggest a gulf in quality between the sides, however the Premier League table does not with only four points and two places seperating the sides. The game on Wednesday could go a long way to determining if either side can finish in the top four and qualify for Champions League football.

Anyway, onto the team. We've gone gone for the conventional 4-2-3-1 formation, which has been used by both of these sides at various points this season.

Goalkeeper - Hugo Lloris

Despite Simon Mignolet's recent upturn in form for Liverpool, Hugo Lloris has been Tottenham's hero in goal for years now. Captain of the French national team, Lloris is one of the world's best goalkeepers and is reknowned for his cat like reflexes between the sticks. Despite having been troubled by Liverpool in the past, Lloris could make the difference on Tuesday and is the obvious choice for goalkeeper in our side.

Right back - Kyle Walker

A fully capped England international, Kyle Walker was the obvious choice for right back in our team. Set back by injuries this season, he is still Spurs' first choice pick when available. Liverpool haven't had a full time right back this term, with Javier Manquillo, Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic all being used in defensive roles. A fully fit Walker is stretches ahead of those three at the moment, with his attacking talents mirrored by those defensively.

Right centre back - Emre Can

A midfielder by trade, Emre Can has been thrust into centre back this season due to the Reds awful defensive record. Although playing there in the past, there were raised eyebrows when Can came on in the position against Burnley on Boxing Day. He surpassed all expectations, with his strong physique matched with intelligent ball playing allowing him to excell in the position. His match-levelling assist for Raheem Sterling against Bolton showed off his midfield credentials, and he may well have earned a midfield place in the side if he had been given an extended run in his natural position.

Left centre back - Jan Vertonghen

Possibly the hardest decision for this team was between Mamadou Sakho and Jan Vertonghen at the left side of the centre back pairing. With only one place available, it had to be awarded to the Belgian due to his consistency as one of the Premier League's finest centre backs over the past seasons. Good on the ball aswell as strong in the air, Vertonghen's ability to mark leading strikers out of games gives him the place in our team.

Left back - Alberto Moreno

A new addition to the Premier League following his summer move from Sevilla, Alberto Moreno has quietly impressed down the left flank to become a mainstay in the Liverpool side. With blistering pace aswell as huge defensive ability, Moreno showed the league exactly what he can do in the 3-0 win at Spurs near to the start of the season, putting in an excellent performance compiled with a superb final goal.

Centre midfield - Jordan Henderson

Jordan Henderson is in line to become the next captain of Liverpool following Steven Gerrard's annoucement that he will be leaving for LA Galaxy and the progress he has made in the past three years is an inspiration to any young player beneath him. Close to being sold to Fulham on Brendan Rodgers' first deadline day, Henderson rejected the move and has gone from strength to strength since. With an immense midfield engine combined with geniune talent for both attacking and defending, the box to box midfielder was an easy choice for our eleven.

Centre midfield - Nabil Bentaleb

A surprise call up by Tim Sherwood from the u21 side last season, Nabil Bentaleb's defensive ability and eye for a pass have seen him become a crucial part of Tottenham's midfield. Returning from the African Cup Of Nations, Bentaleb swung in a perfect cross to set up Harry Kane for the winner in the North London derby against Arsenal on Saturday. Partnered with Henderson, these two would offer a perfect midfield balance that would allow those ahead of them to wreak havoc attacking.

Right wing - Raheem Sterling

Despite being played as a striker in light of Daniel Sturridge's injury woes this season, and doing extremely well, Raheem Sterling remains one of the world's most talented young wingers. With burning pace, good vision and a tactical awareness that many players his age lack, the 20 year old has the ability to torment any defender in the league. After he won the European Golden Boy last year, Liverpool will wonder how long they can keep hold of Sterling before the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona come sniffing.

Central attacking midfield - Christian Eriksen

2-1 to Spurs, Christian Eriksen has been a recurring theme this season as some brilliance from the Dane has rescued his side on more than one occassion. Blessed with world class set piece ability aswell as passing and shooting skills, the 22 year old has made an instant impact since moving to the Premier League in the summer of 2013. His ability to link up play with others around him and be there during the moments that count see him selected in this team.

Left wing - Phillipe Coutinho

You may have been reading the Eriksen pick and wondering why there was no mention for in form Phillipe Coutinho. This is because the Brazilian makes up our next positon, on the left wing. Although it isn't his natural position, the team couldn't go without him and he has played left wing in the past. Having improved on his consistency in recent months, Coutinho has established himself as one of the leading playmakers in the Barclays Premier League and his mesmerising dribbling and passing skills, aswell as his flair see him picked on our left hand side.

Striker - Daniel Sturridge

It is a pain leaving out Harry Kane, who is hot in form and bagged a double against Arsenal on Saturday however Daniel Sturridge must be selected as the lone striker in this formation. One of Europe's top marksman over the past 2 years, Sturridge's excellent form and combination with Luis Suarez saw him score an incredible 37 goals in his first 50 Liverpool games. Despite injury woes this season, he scored the winner against high-flyers Southampton on the opening weekened and announced his comeback from a five month layoff with a goal off the bench against West Ham.

Our final team:

Lloris, Walker, Can, Vertonghen, Moreno, Henderson, Bentaleb, Sterling, Eriksen, Coutinho, Sturridge.

Notable mentions:

Simon Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Danny Rose, Lucas Leiva, Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane.
