Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has admitted he would only ever return to the Premier League if it was to play for Liverpool.

The 28-year-old returned to Merseyside for the first time in 10 months during Sunday's All-Star match, where he won one of the penalties for Steven Gerrard's XI in a game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Uruguayan, who left the club shortly after grabbing the world's attention for the third bite of his career on Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup, has insisted he would never play for another Premier League team.

"You never know in football what the future holds but if I ever play in England again I will play for the Liverpool team and not another team," said 2014 PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year Suarez - who scored 31 league goals in 33 games for the Reds last season.

"It’s great to come back to Anfield. Not just for the old players coming back but those who play now and for the supporters, for Stevie and the foundation - it was a special game.

"I’ve missed the fans. The atmosphere is unbelievable, it’s amazing. Everyone who’s played for Liverpool knows how important the supporters are. They know they are in my heart."

Coming on at half-time alongside another ex-Anfield favourite, Fernando Torres, Suarez formed the attacking partnership that could have been - had the Spaniard not left Liverpool for Chelsea just three days after Suarez' arrival.

But whilst both quit the Reds to win silverware elsewhere, they were both given fantastic receptions from the Liverpool crowd - and the Uruguayan admits it was nice to play alongside Torres.

"It was great for me to play up front alongside Fernando," said Suarez, having scored the winner for Barcelona against Real Madrid only a week ago. "Four years ago when I signed for Liverpool, I crossed my fingers to play with Fernando and he left three days after I signed.

"It was a great day for the other players but for me and Fernando it was a great chance to play together.

Asked about whether he wanted to crown his return with a goal, having won the second penalty of the afternoon, Suarez responded: "Steven asked me (about taking the second penalty) because he’s a very nice person.

"It’s important when a player comes back after a few months to score a goal but for me it is not important because the day is for him."
