The month of March started well with a 2-1 home victory against champions Manchester City, but ended badly for Liverpool as they succumbed to a defeat of the same scoreline to Manchester United at Anfield. The Reds will be hoping for a better showing in April, as they look to keep their dreams of a top four finish and FA Cup victory alive.

Arsenal (a) - Barclays Premier League - 04/04/14

The month begins with a trip to the capital where Liverpool will take on an inform Arsenal side, in possibly the Reds' toughest game of the month. The Gunners are fellow contenders for a top four place and have won 14 from their last 16 competetive fixtures. An unlikely win down South would see Liverpool close the gap on Arsenal to just three points, however a loss could see Brendan Rodgers' side slip down to 7th in the league, eight points from a UEFA Champions League place. This mouthwatering clash is a heavily anticipated one, and will go a long way to decide who finishes where this season.

Blackburn Rovers (a) - FA Cup - 08/04/14

The 'Get Gerrard to Wembley' bandwagon continues rolling on April 8th as Liverpool make the short trip to Blackburn to compete for a place in the FA Cup Semi Final. The sides couldn't be seperated in a boring 0-0 draw on Merseyside last month, and both managers and spectators alike will be hoping for a more open game this time around. Ironically enough, a win in this game for Liverpool would actually get Steven Gerrard to Wembley, as that is where the semi final is held, however there would still be one more game for the club to reach their end goal. If the Reds do manage to get past Rovers, Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa side await them in the semi final.

Newcastle United (h) - Barclays Premier League - 13/04/14

In possibly their last Monday night game of the season, Liverpool will host Newcastle hopefully still with a chance of reaching the top four. The two sides have thrown up some spectacular clashes over the years, however the Reds will be hoping for a better performance than they mustered on Tyneside earlier in the season, when an Ayoze Perez goal gave the Geordies a deserved 1-0 win. Tactics and form have changed much since then, and Newcastle even have a different manager by the name of John Carver however Liverpool shouldn't underestimate the difficulty of the task as Newcastle have beaten both Chelsea and Manchester City this season.

Hull City (a) - Barclays Premier League - 18/04/14

Liverpool will take on Steve Bruce's Hull City side in their penultimate game of the month, a fixture which many will have down as a one sides victory for the boys in red. This would perhaps be a naive opinion, as Hull are firmly lodged in a relegation battle, a situation that is unlikely to change before the two sides meet. With it being their sides first home game in almost a month, the Hull fans will be firmly behind their side as they look to survive the drop, creating an atmosphere that could go against Liverpool. We almost saw this last season during the title challenge, as Liverpool came away from strugglers Norwich with a narrow 3-2 victory on matchday 34, thanks to an inspired performance from Raheem Sterling. Will the winger have signed a new contract by this point? We'll have to wait and see.

West Bromwich Albion (a) - Barclays Premier League - 25/04/14

A West Brom side led by Tony Pulis will be Liverpool's final test of the month, as the Reds travel four a fourth away game out of five games in April. West Brom are just about safe from relegation, it seems, and will be coming off the back of some more comfortable games against Burnley, Leicester and Crystal Palace. Adam Lallana scored his first goal in a red shirt against the Baggies during a 2-1 October victory at Anfield, and will be hoping for a similar performance this time around. The main danger from the hosts is sure to come through frontman Saido Berahino, who has been linked with a summer transfer to Liverpool. The striker has 18 goals in 37 appearances this season.
