Teenage starlet Jordon Ibe looks set to put pen to paper on a new and improved deal at Liverpool FC.

The 19-year-old, who has impressed with the Reds since returning to Merseyside from a successful loan spell at promotion-chasing Derby County in the Championship, is understood to be happy with the terms proposed to him two months ago, with the deal virtually complete.

Ibe, whose form has been disrupted by a knee ligament injury suffered in the Reds' Europa League exit away at Besiktas in February, only needs sign the papers.

The new deal is expected to increase the youngster's wages up to around £30,000-a-week, in addition to added incentives, in reward for his superb progress this season.

Signing his contract extension will come as a boost to the club with the ongoing contract troubles with fellow promising youngster Raheem Sterling.

Ibe joined the club as a 16-year-old from Wycome Wanderers back in 2012, but after promising spells at Birmingham City and Derby - Ibe looks set for a sustained spell in Brendan Rodgers' team.

The Northern Irishman also looks set to be boosted by Ibe's return on the pitch. The Reds' boss recently evealed the winger has looked "absolutely sensational" in training after returning earlier this week.

Ibe could be in contention with a return against Newcastle United in Liverpool's clash against John Carver's Magpies on Monday night.
