Lucas Leiva has been dealt a massive blow with the news that he could be out for up to two weeks through injury.

The Brazilian holding midfielder is believed to have aggravated his thigh in training in the build-up to this afternoon's FA Cup semi-final with Aston Villa.

But the 28-year-old looks set to miss out on Liverpool's trip to Wembley yet again.

Under Kenny Dalglish in 2012, Lucas was forced to watch all three of the Reds' games under the arch from the sidelines - and it will come as a bitter blow for the long-time Liverpool servant that he will have to do so again.

It is also a blow for Brendan Rodgers, after Lucas performed well away at Blackburn Rovers and at home to Newcastle United in recent weeks.

The Northern Irishman may recall skipper Steven Gerrard to the midfield, having served his three-match suspension.

Lucas has travelled with the squad to the capital, but it is understood that the club's medical staff believe he could be out for one to two weeks.

Before today's game, he told Liverpoolfc.com how excited he was to finally play at Wembley.

"I’ve played at the Maracana a few times but never at Wembley," he said. "I have been dreaming about it, to be honest. I’ve been at Liverpool so long."

In other team news, Daniel Sturridge (hip) and Adam Lallana (groin) are unlikely to take part in the clash with Villa, whilst Jordon Ibe is cup-tied.
