The Barclays Premier League Golden Glove award is often a competition overlooked when the traditional end of season awards are handed out, however it is essentially the golden boot for goalkeepers, and one that Simon Mignolet has a very good chance of winning.

Despite some embarrasing pre Christmas form, an upturn in fortunes for the Belgian has seen him shoot to the top of the clean sheet's table, but can he go on and win the prize?

Well, the statistics suggest so. Mignolet is currently level with Southampton 'keeper Fraser Forster, with the pair having both made 13 shutouts as of yet. Crucially though, Forster unfortunately sustained a knee injury a few weeks ago, ending the Englishman's season, therefore giving Mignolet a clear run at the title. If two players finish level on clean sheets, they share the title, meaning there is no plausible way for Forster to take the prize from Mignolet.

Despite this, there is competition below Liverpool's number one. Lying on 11 clean sheets, two below Mignolet and Forster, are four goalies. These are, Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea), Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea), Joe Hart (Manchester City) and Ben Foster (West Brom), however Foster has also sustained a season ending injury. Surprisingly enough, David De Gea, the official PFA Goalkeeper of the Year, is below all these players, having recorded just 10 clean sheets.

Despite those slightly below Mignolet all being worthy competitors for the award, it is in the Belgian's hands and two clean sheets in his final four games would secure him the Golden Glove, won a record three consecutive times by his predecessor Pepe Reina.

In the Reds final four games, they'll face the attacks of both Crystal Palace and QPR at Anfield, whilst facing away onslaughts from Stoke City and champions to be, Chelsea.

It's unlikely that Liverpool will be able to offer Mignolet enough protection against Chelsea to keep a clean sheet in what could essentially be a party atmosphere at Stamford Bridge, whilst Stoke are also likely to provide a threat on the final day. QPR are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the league but a clean sheet is manageable, whilst the Reds will be confident of shutting out Crystal Palace when the Londoners visit L4.

Overall, you would have to fancy Mignolet's chances of winning his first Golden Glove in his second season at Liverpool, which would represent an incredible turnaround considering the 2014 he had, but credit must also go to members of Liverpool's defence.

Mamadou Sakho has had an excellent season since coming into the team, as has Emre Can after being put into centre back. Martin Skrtel and Alberto Moreno have equally put in good spells, and they'll all be hoping they can help their goalkeeper get across the line in the last accolade available to Liverpool this season.
