Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted to changing his mind over where to place his 78th minute penalty against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, citing that as the reason for his miss.

Gerrard is the usual penalty taker for Liverpool, and seldom misses from the spot, meaning that Robert Green's strong save came as a surprise. The Skipper though, offered an idea for his failure to convert.

"I changed my mind on the run-up and rule number one with penalties is that you don't change your mind," said Gerrard to BBC Sport.

"Last time I changed my mind, I missed as well."

Gerrard's miss didn't matter in the end as the Englishman redeemed himself with an 87th minute winning header, which could turn out to be the 34 year old's last ever Liverpool goal at Anfield, as he prepares to join LA Galaxy this summer.

Despite being pleased with his match-winning goal, scored at the Kop end, Gerrard insisted that he's still got one more chance to get on the scoresheet infront of his home fans again.

"I was happy with my header. It wasn't the best that I've scored, that was my header in the [2005] Champions League Final.

"Overall, it was a good three points and we now have to stay strong until the end and keep pressure on the teams above us.

"We have one more game to go here at Anfield and I will do my best to get on the score sheet. If that is my last goal at Anfield then I will take it but I won't give up."
