Liverpool defender Kolo Touré has confirmed that there will be a decision to be made about is future at the end of the season, as he considers whether the game time on offer at Liverpool is enough for a player approaching the end of his career.

A popular figure on Merseyside, Toure has made 44 appearances since joining in 2013 upon the expiry of his Manchester City contract. He has confirmed that there have been talks about a one-year contract extension, as his current deal expires in June, but has only played once since February and admits that a lack of game-time could lead to his departure.

“It’s been a difficult season for all the team and everyone at the club as we haven’t done as well as last season,” Toure told the ECHO. “For me, there’s a decision to be taken. I am looking around and seeing what’s best for my family. I’m talking with my wife to see what that decision will be. It’s a difficult decision because since I’ve been here things have been good. I’ve really enjoyed it, even though it’s difficult when you don’t play a lot. I’m a competitor and I want to play more.

“Maybe when the season is over it will be easier to be relaxed and think about what’s the project and what’s the club’s plan for you. Things can happen very quickly in football. In two or three days your future can be decided.”
