Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho claimed four awards at the club's end of season ceremony, including being named the both Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.

The popular Brazilian, called up to his country's Copa America squad for the summer, received the first award of the night for 'Performance of the Year' after his superb contributions against Manchester City in a 2-1 win at Anfield back in March.

Coutinho beat the likes of Kolo Toure (vs Real Madrid), Steven Gerrard (vs AFC Wimbledon), Jordon Ibe (vs Everton) and Simon Mignolet (vs Blackburn) on the way to his first of four awards on the night.

The 22-year-old, who has been in stellar form for Brendan Rodgers' side, scoring eight goals in 51 appearances, was also recognised for his stupendous 25-yard strike away at Southampton in a 2-0 win at St Mary's as he claimed Goal of the Year accolade.

The no.10's powerful dipping strike from range was amongst a number of fine strikes in a memorable personal campaign for the mercurial playmaker, who was named in the PFA Team of the Year.

Having been nominated Players' Player of the Year by his teammates and Player of the Year by the club's supporters, Coutinho said: "I just want to say thank you to everyone. To all the fans, to all my team-mates, my wife and the staff. I am very happy."

Fellow teammates were keen to herald Coutinho's achievements throughout the campaign, as vice-captain Jordan Henderson commended: "I voted for Philippe because he’s been fantastic all season and produced magical moments."

Later in the evening, long-time servant Steven Gerrard also had his achievements recognised, as he received an Outstanding Achievement Award before he leaves for America later this month.

The Liverpool legend will end his 17-year stint with the club's first team to switch to LA Galaxy in the MLS, as the club captain's achievements - including highlights of that night in Istanbul nearly 10 years ago - were shown on the big screen before he was presented the award by Liverpool legends Dave Shannon and Hughie McAuley.

Elsewhere, Raheem Sterling was named Young Player of the Year just a day after it emerged he would not be renewing his contract with the Reds and he was booed by a number of supporters in the crowd.

Joao Carlos Teixeira was awarded Academy Players' Player of the Year after a successful loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring six league goals in 35 appearances - as he recovers from a broken leg suffered towards the latter stages of the season.

Fara Williams claimed the Ladies' Player of the Year, after she helped the reigning Women's Super League champions to their second successive title - whilst Ian St John and Ron Yeats were awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards for their roles in winning the club's first ever FA Cup 50 years ago at Wembley.
