Academy prospect Lloyd Jones has signed a new two-year with Liverpool Football Club.

The 19-year-old centre-back confirmed the news via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, having spent a loan spell at League Two's Cheltenham Town earlier this season.

Jones arrived at Anfield as a young prospect from Plymouth Argyle at the age of 15 for a fee of £20,000 but is yet to make his debut for the Liverpool first-team.

The centre-back did make the bench for the Reds' 3-1 win away at Fulham in May 2013, after which he signed his first professional deal at the club.

Jones has since spent a six-week loan at Cheltenham, before returning to a regular berth in the Liverpool U21s' side. The 19-year-old then switched to Accrington Stanley in March.

Making 11 first-team appearances for the League Two club, scoring his first-ever senior goal from 30-yards against Liverpool teammate Danny Ward, who was playing in goal for Morecambe.

Jones has previously been capped for Wales at both U17 and U19 levels, though he has since played for England at U19 and U20.

The Plymouth-born defender, who also played against Shamrock Rovers in a post-season friendly victory after last season, is highly thought of amongst the Academy, has penned his future to the club until at least 2017.
