Andre Wisdom has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool Football Club.

The 22-year-old, who can play as a full-back or in central defence, has committed his future to the club until 2019 by penning the new deal on Merseyside.

Wisdom has recently returned to Liverpool after a season-long loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he made 26 league appearances. Tony Pulis' arrival at the Hawthorns coincided with a drop in game-time, but Anfield officials have tied down the young defender's future with first-choice right-back Glen Johnson leaving on a free this summer.

The English U21 international, who also spent time on loan at Derby Count in 2013-14, is expected to push for a starting berth in Brendan Rodgers' side next year, with Jon Flanagan out injured until 2016 and loanee Javier Manquillo's future uncertain.

Wisdom has made 22 appearances for Liverpool's first-team since Rodgers gave him a debut in the Europa League back in 2012, but with playing time hard to come by for the Reds since joining from Bradford City in 2008.
