Brendan Rodgers is almost certain to be Liverpool FC manager at the start of next season, but he may be forced to accept the transfer policy of Fenway Sports Group.

The Reds' boss has been meeting with club officials, including FSG president Mike Gordon and club chairman Tom Werner, for an end-of-season review which will delve into what went wrong last season.

It is understood that whilst Rodgers' side finished sixth in the Premier League after a 6-1 humbling at Stoke City on the final day of the season, his position is not under threat.

But he may put his job security under risk if he decides to question the current transfer strategy, or suggest any changes.

As it stands, the club currently identify targets via a committee, as opposed to Rodgers choosing his own players.

The Northern Irishman was allowed to do this to some extent last summer, but after a number of his signings failed to make their desired impacts - FSG are believed to have more faith in the committee for the coming summer.

Nevertheless, Rodgers certainly believes Liverpool should consider adapting their approach in the transfer market.

According to reports, the manager wants to add more proven talents to the squad which is currently full of young talents for the future.

FSG have listened to Rodgers and are willing to allow the Liverpool manager to add 29-year-old out-of-contract midfielder James Milner to the tranks, but they are unlikely to take this approach across the board.

Rodgers is understood to be unlikely to challenge FSG over their approach by pushing the point and has had his position strengthened by the fact Jurgen Klopp, formerly of Borussia Dortmund, admitted earlier this week that he will be taking a break.
