Carlos Bacca's agent has admitted that Liverpool are interested in the player, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Sevilla striker's name has been mentioned in Liverpool rumours throughout the majority of the summer, with them keen to bolster their attacking options after Luis Suarez' goals failed to be replaced in last year's transfer window.

The fitness of Daniel Sturridge, or lack thereof, has not helped them either, with over 50 goals missing from the team that finished second in the Premier League in the 2013-14 season.

Flopped signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli, as well as former Sunderland loanee Fabio Borini, failed to add the goals the team desperately needed this season, and each of their names have been linked with moves elsewhere this summer as Liverpool weigh up their potential striking options and look to clear-out the squad.

Bacca has an impressive record in Spain

Bacca has a record of 49 goals in 106 games since joining Sevilla two years ago, with him managing 28 in all competitions this season, 20 of which came in La Liga and seven in the Europa League, as his side retained their European title.

His fantastic ability demands a reported £21.3 million transfer fee though, the believed buy-out clause in his current contract which is due to run until 2018. Still, with Aston Villa demanding £32.5 million for Christian Benteke, this is hardly expensive.

The 28-year-old's agent, Sergio Barila, has stated that his client has received a good deal of interest from clubs around the world, though no official appoach has been made thus far. He named Liverpool as one club who are looking at Bacca, as well as "another English club" and "also clubs in Italy," whereas further options include ones "in places like China or the United Arab Emirates" where Bacca has the option "to earn a lot of money," but Barila has assured fans that this is not Bacca's goal.

Whilst things are complicated with the player, him and his agent agreeing that they "need a real solution," he described the situation as "clear" as "at this stage nobody has [met the release clause]," so he cannot go anywhere yet.

Barila admitted that staying at Sevilla "wouldn't be a disaster" as they "are a good team who will play in the Champions League next season." However, his elaboration implies that Bacca has certainly got a move on his mind.

Three boxes must be ticked for Bacca

The agent described "three things" that are huge factors in a potential switch. The first is "a happy family situation for his wife and son," as "he had a bad experience in Belgium" when with Club Brugge for the 2012-13 season.

The second factor is that his next club must be "a good team with a good project," and Bacca has idenitified Liverpool as a club who meet this criteria as, he went to Chile with Colombia for this year's Copa America, the player and his agent drew up a list of clubs which fit his targets, with Liverpool's one of a number of names on the shortlist.

The third and final factor is "the contract." Barila acknowledged that Bacca "has a good salary in Sevilla," but admitted that he is fully aware of the spending power of English clubs compared to their continental rivals.

If his agent's words are anything to go by, Bacca is certainly keen on a move to Liverpool, and it's just up to the Reds to act on their interest.
