Keita Balde Diao wants to join Liverpool, according to his agent.

Speaking to Radio Sei, Ulisse Savini admitted that whilst, "for years there have been several offers coming in" for his client, they are "particularly interesting" at the moment "considering [Diao's] situation."

Out of favour at Lazio

The 20-year-old started just six games for Lazio last season, making 17 appearances off the bench and only scoring one goal as a result. He is believed to have become frustrated with his lack of playing time since joining the club in 2011 from Barcelona, especially given that he started more games in his debut season for them last year, appearing in 14 line-ups and making a further 11 appearances off the bench.

He scored five goals and registered three assists in Serie A last year, and thus for his chances to have decreased since will have obviously irritated the youngster.

Savini told Radio Sei that it is "only natural" for him to not be "satisfied with the situation," admitting that the player and his agent are now "evaluating other options."

He went on to say that Liverpool "is a destination [Diao] would like" as they have "a manager [Brendan Rodgers] who relishes attacking players," such as Savini's client.

However, the agent admitted that, "so far," he has "not had any direct contact with Liverpool," whilst Internazionale are also interested in the player, giving him another option that requires less of a lifestyle change given that it would only need him to move elsewhere in Italy.

Savini said that he has "an excellent rapport" with Inter and "know[s] they are seeking wide attackers," such as Diao. He added that Inter "really like" the 20-year-old, but that they are "aiming for other objectives" at the moment. Still, he explained that they "might not get the first target and go for a second" and therefore he "wouldn't rule them out" in the race for Diao.

Would Liverpool be interested?

Whilst Diao may indeed want to move to Anfield, there is nothing to suggest Liverpool are actually interested in the player.

They have just signed Roberto Firmino from 1899 Hoffenheim for a deal worth nearly £30 million, and with Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic all already in the squad too, it seems unlikely that they would actually be able to give Diao the playing time he wants.

Rumours have circulated that the Reds do like the player, but these have mainly come about since Savini's comments.
