Liverpool Ladies have signed Rosie White, subject to international clearance, the club have announced.

White joins Liverpool from the University of California and has previously played for Western Springs and Three Kings United in her homeland of New Zealand.

The 22-year-old is also a full international for her country, with 71 caps already to her name despite her young age, as well as 14 goals. White featured at this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup, playing in two of her teams three matches as they failed to qualified from Group A.

White excited about the move

Upon completing the switch, the striker told Liverpool Ladies' website that "it's really exciting to sign [her] first professional contract" with Liverpool - a club she decribed as "massive."

She admitted that she has "always wanted to play in Europe" and that joining the English league is also "always something [she's] wanted to do." The "success [Liverpool] have had over the last couple of years," winning the FAWSL title in both 2013 and 2014, persuaded her to join, with her finding it "hard to say no to a club like this."

White is also "looking forward" to the chance to play in the Champions League with the Reds, something she revealed has "always been a goal of [hers]."

The 22-year-old believes she is an "attacking-minded player"and is hoping to add this to the team, as well as her "direct" approach, ability to "take chances" and to "create goal-scoring opportunities."

Liverpool in need of a clinical second half of the season

Liverpool have lacked this ability to score goals in the first half of the season, with them entering the mid-season break sat in fifth with just two wins from five games.

Manager Matt Beard will hope his new signing can change this around and help the team produce the goods that can give them the chance to reclaim their title for the third year running.
