With six signings already completed, Liverpool are now on the verge of signing Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke, as the seventh signing of their summer.
The Belgium striker will cost the club a whopping £32.5 million after the Reds met his release clause, a fee which will make him the second most expensive signing in Liverpool's history, after the infamous signing of Andy Carroll, back in 2011.
Since Liverpool have been linked with a move for Benteke, the player has divided the opinion of many Liverpool fans, some saying he would be a class signing, whereas other believe he could be a flop - but what are the pros and cons of signing him.
Pros of signing Benteke
Since Christian Benteke joined Villa back in 2012 for a fee of around £7 million, he has managed to score an impressive 42 goals in 88 Premier League appearances. That ratio means he's scored almost one in every two games he's featured in, which is a fantastic record.
If the deal to sign Benteke does go through, then the big striker will definitely bring goals with him. This is something Liverpool significantly lacked last season, scoring just 51 after a tally of 101 the season before, and that suggests Benteke could potentially be the man to fire the Reds back into the top four.
The 24-year-old also has the ability to hold up the ball up front. His body strength allows him to fend off defenders, as well as shield and protect the ball when he is alone up front, allowing players to get up and support him.
Players who are blessed with pace like Jordon Ibe and Lazar Markovic will benefit the most from this as they can get to him quickly and offer him the options he requires, whilst it would allow the likes of creative duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho the chance to get up too.
Benteke can also offer something different to Liverpool's attack, because whilst he has good technical ability on the floor, he's predominantly known for his aerial dominance.
Liverpool don't usually play direct football and they don't often score many from set pieces and crosses, due to their lack of power. However, Benteke will bring this threat and that can only help expand their armoury.
Cons of signing Benteke
Possibly the biggest con and the one that worries Liverpool fans the most is whether or not Benteke will fit into the Reds' current style of play. Andy Carroll and Rickie Lambert have similar playing styles to Benteke and neither of them managed to establish themselves as a successful Liverpool player.
Both of them struggled to score goals and find themselves with goal scoring chances because teams were not built around their strengths. This is certainly something that could easily have been prevented, but it is also easily repeated if the Reds ask Benteke to play as something that he isn't.
Fears are that Liverpool could blow £32.5 million on a striker that won't play much, or won't adjust to a different style of play, and that instead the money could be used to sign who would.
Finally, with the signing of Benteke and after possible departures, Liverpool's strikers next season could consist of Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke, Danny Ings and Divock Origi.
Liverpool played with a single striker for most of last season and could do again next season, meaning four strikers could end up competing for just one place.
This will almost certainly leave one or two of the four strikers out in the cold and they might fail to even earn a spot on the bench - which could lead to some disgruntlement.
Conclusion
There are both pros and cons to signing the Belgian, who represents a big gamble at such a huge outlay - but Brendan Rodgers is clearly confident he can get the best out of the Belgian.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Benteke fits into the Liverpool team next season.
He could be a player that fires Liverpool back into the Champions League, but he could equally be another striker who fails to live up to his massive price tag.
