Adam Lallana is confident that Liverpool's pre-season form so far will help them to start the Premier League season strongly next month.

The 27-year-old scored twice as the Reds won three times and drew once in the Far East and Australia, before the squad brought their two-week tour to an end as they landed back on home soil on Saturday.

But Lallana believes the Reds' schedule, which has seen them travel over 28,000 miles with further trips to Helsinki and Swindon to come, has benefitted the squad.

Pre-season tour has allowed new players to bed in, says Lallana

The England international described the conditions abroad as "testing" not only because of the weather, but the state of the playing surfaces in the four stadiums they played in.

He hailed the different levels of opposition in a range of countries, all of which entailed different temperatures and weather conditions, as "good tests."

Speaking specifically about their final game, a 1-1 draw with a Malaysia XI, Lallana said: "We would liked to have won.

"We created a lot of chances and we would liked to have taken a few more of them, but ultimately it is more minutes under all of our belts."

And the attacking midfielder believes that the tour sufficiently allowed the club's summer signings to bond with their new team-mates.

"[Nathaniel] Clyne has settled in brilliantly, as have all the others. James Milner has been tremendous. He's slotted straight into the fold and his experience is going to be vital for us this season."

Lallana hails "very impressive" Ibe

Alongside the Reds' new recruits, a few familiar faces stood out for Brendan Rodgers' charges - with Jordan Henderson impressing as captain and Jordon Ibe proving the stand-out performer, drilling in a sensational equaliser in the final game after cutting inside from the right.

It capped off an excellent two weeks' for Ibe, who Rodgers admitted has done little harm of enhancing his chances of a first-team spot on the opening weekend with his performances.

Lallana added: "He's been very impressive. We have been saying to him to get his shots off and obviously it paid off [with the goal] - from his supposedly weaker side."

Whilst Lallana commended Ibe's "great ability" he also insisted that his attitude and willingness to work hard in training and in matches, means he will be an asset to the Reds - who also welcome a few new faces to the squad after returning to the UK.

Englishman excited to welcome new team-mates

Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino will meet up with their new team-mates for the first time, having spent the past few days training at Melwood with the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can

The Brazilian pair, and the £32.5 million Belgian striker - who officially became a Liverpool player mid-way through last week - are "three world-class attacking players" according to Lallana - who said Can is "another massive player" for the team.

"These are really exciting times," he added. "They probably won’t be up to speed yet fitness-wise, but they'll be great additions to the squad."

Benteke is seen as the man to lead the line alone with the injured Daniel Sturridge set to miss the opening few months of the campaign.

Lallana called the 24-year-old a "big presence" who he believes will be a "massive signing" due to his ability to score a range of goals, including strikes "out of nothing."

After the Reds scored from just a handful of corner-kicks last season, having been so prolific from them in the season before, Lallana believes he will be important in both attacking and defending set-pieces - saying that he is one of those player "you want to have in your side."
