Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has predicted that the new season will be a huge success for team-mate Adam Lallana.

An injury hit first season for England midfielder

The former Southampton captain arrived at Anfield last summer in a huge £25 million deal, but was hit with an injury almost immediately, which forced him to miss pre-season and delayed his debut for the club until September.

Following his return, Lallana was hit by further injuries which impacted the amount of games he could play and also affected his fitness during the matches he did feature in.

However, Henderson is now confident that the 27-year-old will be back to his best, after impressing on the Reds' pre-season tour of the Far East and Austrlia, where he scored twice.

Big things are expected from Lallana, according to Henderson

Speaking to LFCTV, Henderson admitted last year was difficult for Lallana - which meant he was "always trying to fight to get back fit" throughout the campaign, but he was held up by constant niggles.

The England international duo are good friends, and Henderson continued to say that Lallana is a "good lad" and that he will "work really hard" in order to be flying by the time the first game of the season comes around.

He added: "I have told him myself that I am expecting big things from him this season. I say that because he's a fantastic player."

Henderson says 2015-16 is big season for the club

Henderson continued to explain that it is a big season for everyone at Liverpool, but Lallana wants to show everyone what he can do by getting into a regular rhythm of form.

"It is a big season for him but I am sure that he has got more than enough ability and work-rate to achieve that."

"I know he feels as though he can show people a lot more and there are big things to come from him, I'm sure of that."
