Liverpool FC goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believes that Brendan Rodgers' side can still step their game up another level when they take on Arsenal on Monday night.

The Reds face their toughest task of the season so far as they travel south to take on the Gunners, who are one of a number of clubs expected to be vying for a top-four spot.

Liverpool already have back-to-back wins under their belts, with Mignolet having yet to have picked the ball up out of his net, but though they have maximum points - their performances haven't been particularly vintage.

But the Belgian shot-stopper believes that, though they've yet to hit top gear, Rodgers' charges have plenty enough stock to test Arsenal to their limit at the Emirates Stadium.

Reds relishing Arsenal trip says Mignolet

The 27-year-old explained that Liverpool "have started well" and that "everybody is pleased" with how they've maintained a 100 per-cent record after tricky games against Stoke City and Bournemouth.

But Mignolet said that "there's a lot of room for improvement" in terms of performances, adding that it is "only a good thing" when you've won twice already and can still improve.

The goalkeeper insisted that he and his team-mates "want to continue in the same way" when they take on the Gunners, labelling it a "big fixture" which the players earmarked as an important one early on.

He said the Reds "look forward" to the clash with Arsene Wenger's side, who thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in North London in April, saying they "want to do well" because of the way they've started the season off.

Goalkeeper hails fellow Belgian Benteke

Rodgers' new-look Liverpool have edged two 1-0 affairs so far, with Christian Benteke - Mignolet's compatriot - hitting the winning goal against Bournemouth on his Anfield debut.

The Reds' new no.9 turned in from Jordan Henderson's deep cross to open his account in a red shirt, and Mignolet hailed what the £32.5 million striker can bring to their squad.

He said the 24-year-old is a "big outlet" for Liverpool and gives them the "extra option" to go long and hold the ball up.

Mignolet said Benteke's first goal "will do him the world of good" because it will help fuel his confidence, which "will only get better" as he settles in to his new surroundings.

The Liverpool 'keeper said that Benteke has done "great so far" and that he hopes he'll continue to "do well" and "score a lot of goals."
