Liverpool duo Jordan Williams and Danny Ward have been included in the Wales squad for next month's European Championship qualifiers, but Joe Allen misses out through injury.

Williams and Ward, currently out on loan at Swindon Town and Aberdeen respectively, have impressed sufficiently to convince Chris Coleman to include them in his 23-man squad for fixtures against Cyprus and Israel.

Neither of the pair have yet made their international debuts, though they have played for the Dragons' youth sides with Williams making his debut for the under-21s last September against Lithuania and 22-year-old Ward having last played for the U21s in the same game.

Both youngsters looking for first senior caps, but Allen will have to wait for 21st appearance

The uncapped Ward, who signed a new contract at Anfield recently, is likely to play second-fiddle to first-choice 'keeper Wayne Hennessey and back-up Owain Fon Williams barring any injuries or suspensions.

19-year-old Williams could be handed his first cap and though Wales are arguably strongest in central midfield, he could take up a spot in the back-four. But regular starter and Liverpool first-team midfield Joe Allen will not be a part of squad.

The 25-year-old was set to miss out on the trip to Cyprus through suspension, but won't play any part against Israel in Cardiff just a few days later because of injury.

Coleman revealed that Allen, who picked up a hamstring injury in the last game of pre-season against Swindon earlier in August, had been nearing a return before suffering a setback which will keep him out.

Williams and Ward, meanwhile, are both impressing whilst out on loan - with the goalkeeper having helped Aberdeen to four straight wins and the young midfielder having been a key part of a Swindon side who remain unbeaten after four games.

Wales, who have yet to fall to defeat, currently sit three points ahead of all their opponents in Group B with four games remaining and they could seal their place in a major competition for the first time since 1958 should they win both games.
