A host of English clubs have enquired for Liverpool centre back, Tiago Ilori, as the Reds consider if they should loan the talented youngster out for the forthcoming season.

The Portuguese defender has spent the last two seasons, since arriving on Merseyside from Sporting CP, on loan at Granada and Bordeaux, and is yet to make a first team appearance for Liverpool.

Experienced youngster yet to make first-team bow on Merseyside

The London-born centre-half, who has declared to play for Portugal, first hit the headlines at SCP when the defender broke Cristiano Ronaldo's sprint speed time, becoming the fastest player in their history.

The 22-year-old then made his impression on Liverpool scouts when he was involved in an underage game at Anfield, where his Sporting side came out victorious thanks to a brilliant display from Joao Carlos Teixeira, who was later signed by Liverpool.

The defender has international experience too, with him being capped at almost all youth levels for Portugal, playing in a host of World Cups, and European Championships.

Most recently, Ilori featured in the Portugal under-21 side that came agonisingly close to winning the U21s Euros this summer, with his nation overcoming the likes of Harry Kane's England, and team-mate Emre Can and his Germany side.

Reds unsure whether to loan defender out

It is well documented that over the last few days, Sunderland, Queens Park Rangers, and Derby County have made serious inquiries to take the defender, who once cost the Anfield club £7 million, on loan.

Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers, however, are unsure if they should let him leave the club, with their current fragile defence being under scrutiny.

Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel have taken their fair share of the blame from their critics following an embarrassing hammering at home to West Ham United, with Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho ready to provide back-up for the first-choice pair, but Ilori could also be in line to step into action this season with the amount of games they have.
