That's all for tonight though, with the report to follow shortly. Thanks for choosing to follow the evening's match with VAVEL - I've been Ameé Ruszkai. Goodnight!

The other game in this group was also a draw, which is the only real positive from tonight for the Reds. Sion remain top with four points, with Liverpool and Bordeaux having two points each, and Rubin Kazan sitting bottom with just the one.

More pressure on the manager then, meaning that the Merseyside derby on Sunday against Everton is simply a must-win game if he wants to protect his job, it seems.

A few jeers at the final whistle, but there were plenty of chances for the team, they just couldn't take them. Origi, Lallana and Ings all had opportunities, but they were not composed when presented with them, whilst the defence continues to pose questions.

Full time. That's it, 1-1 is the final score on another extremely disappointing and frustrating evening for Rodgers and Liverpool.

90 - Fourth official raises his board to announce three minutes of added time. Liverpool really running out of time and not looking likely to make the most of these closing moments.

90 - Another late change from Sion sees Konate replaced by Mujangi Bia.

88 - Coutinho evades numerous challenges, looking to do it all himself, but he tries to pass the ball into the back of the net and it's blocked by the defender.

86 - Assifuah can't run off the pain and he's subbed off with a few minutes to go. Ndoye replaces him for the closing moments.

83 - Mignolet punches the free-kick clear and Ibe is fouled as he tries to get up the pitch. Meanwhile, Assifuah is coming back on the pitch having received treatment on the sideline.

82 - That might be the goal-scorer's last involvement, as he limps off with what seems like cramp. Sion still have all three subs available to use.

81 - Second yellow of the day is brandished to Moreno, as he hacks down the lively Assifuah and gives Sion a free-kick in a good position to deliver.

78 - Coutinho delivers a delicious cross from a free-kick for Can, but he glances it wide of the mark with his header.

77 - Liverpool's final substitute of the evening is a strange one, with Sakho replacing Touré. Would have expected a more attacking change from Rodgers, unless it's to accommodate more attacking involvement from Can.

76 - First yellow of the night goes to Kouassi, who takes out Coutinho as Liverpool look to break.

74 - Golden opportunity for Lallana! The ball falls perfectly for the England international with no one around him in the area, but he can't find the finish as Vanins comes with with a save with his legs. Lallana should have scored.

73 - Carlitos makes his way through the midfield and strikes at goal, but it's a tame effort that Mignolet saves with ease.

72 - The Brazilian's effort is on target but it's not got enough bend or height on it to really hit that top corner, with the 'keeper able to hold having watched it all the way.

71 - Can gets forward again and he's brought down about 25 yards out in a central position. Good position for Coutinho this with the free-kick.

69 - Coutinho's first real involvement sees him thread in Origi who prods the ball goalwards on the stretch, but the 'keeper races out to block. Can's urgency from the back really sparked that attack, and it looks like he'll start to get forward more now in these final stages.

67 - Assifuah comes close to making it 2-1 to Sion, but Mignolet comes up with a smart save from about 10 yards. Gomez gets tight to the strike but slips and allows him half a yard to strike, with the 'keeper beating his powerful effort behind for a corner - which comes to nothing.

Liverpool not getting much joy in terms of crosses into the area - it might be worth swapping Ibe and Moreno around, to give them the option of having a go at goal. Ibe seems to have been sussed by his marker, unable to do anything other than run at him with his right.

65 - Sion tried to counter that, but a deep cross to the back post produced little threat as it was whacked behind for a goal kick.

64 - Huge chance for Origi! Allen plays a delightful ball for him to run onto, and the Belgian shows great composure to lose one of two markers, but he hits the shot straight at the 'keeper, trying to go through his legs when he really could have lifted it over him or placed the ball into the corner.

That change seems to mean a switch to a 3-4-2-1 for Liverpool, with Rossiter and Allen holding, Ibe and Moreno on the wings and Coutinho and Lallana both in behind Origi.

60 - Ball into the box is headed up into the air by Ings and he latches onto the loose ball, firing wide with an ambitious overhead kit from the edge of the box. That's his final action of the night, as he makes way for Coutinho moments later.

59 - Meanwhile, another great change of pace from Origi gets him in behind on the left, and his shot is deflected behind for a corner, which is held with ease by Vanins. The Belgian is having a good game tonight.

58 - Coutinho receiving some instruction from the manager on the bench and looks like he could be coming on soon. Certainly the best bet of changing the game given the options Rodgers has available amongst his substitutes.

55 - Referee plays a good advantage as Allen is caught late in the middle of the park, but Moreno cannot make the most of the continued play as he lashes the ball over the bar from an angle. Build up play is good, but the ball in the final third, and the decision making there too, is not.

54 - Carlitos takes the set piece and it's not a bad effort, but it's too far out to trouble the 'keeper, who watches it all the way and holds with ease after a quick step to his right.

53 - Silly foul from Can gives Sion a free-kick in a good position about 30 yards out. Possible, albeit optimistic, shooting opportunity for the Swiss side.

50 - Incredible effort from Touré hits the bar! He hooks the ball goalwards inside the area from a corner, with his back to goal, and it hits the woodwork.

48 - Ings breaks down the left and fires goalwards, albeit a yard away from the byline which makes for an easy near post save for the 'keeper.

Second half is underway!

Half time change for Liverpool, with Clyne off for Moreno. Ibe switches out to the right wing-back role as the Spaniard occupies the left one, putting both on their preferred foot.

It's been a strange half, with Liverpool completely dominant but Sion looking deadly and capable of punishing the Reds' lack of composure with their chances, as well as some dodgy defending at times.

45 - Konate goes down the other end, turns Touré and fires over the bar and that's half time. The final minute or so sums up the first half, with Liverpool unable to really take their chances and Sion looking deadly on the counter.

45 - Lallana's corner is too deep and it's headed onto the roof of the net by Gomez, when he really should have headed it back across goal and into the area where there were plenty of red shirts waiting.

44 - Big chance for Origi! Ings works well to get the ball through to him, but he doesn't hit it early and it's blocked by a defender for a corner.

39 - Rossiter's free-kick is headed right at the 'keeper by Can, despite him being completely unchallenged and unmarked.

33 - Lacroix heads just wide of the mark from a free-kick, but the flag goes up for offside. Liverpool still not looking all that convincing in defence.

32 - Great chance for Ings as Lallana drills in a teasing cross, but it bounces awkwardly for the striker and he misses it completely.

29 - Sion try to break from a Liverpool corner after Vansins collects and releases the ball well and quickly, but the offside flag is wrongly raised as they enter the final third.

25 - Sion are similarly having a lot of success down their right hand side, with Ibe's defensive contributions questionable. Mignolet is forced to parry a cross from the left and Liverpool can now push forward.

23 - Lallana drives down the right this time and forces a corner, but that results in a free-kick for Sion after a push from Can. Liverpool are having a lot of joy out wide so far, especially on the right.

22 - Lacroix with a half-chance from a corner for Sion as he heads straight at Mignolet. The ball missed his teammate and came to him by surprise, which perhaps explains the tame effort.

21 - Goal disallowed! Ings thinks he's put his side back in the lead amends when Clyne bursts down the right and picks him out to finish, but the flag is rightly raised for offside against the former-Burnley man.

It's Gomez at fault, completely unaware of Assifuah creeping in behind him as he steps up several yards for some reason. Ibe tries to battle the striker off the ball, but Assifuah uses his strength well before producing a composed finish.

It's Assifuah with the goal, a long ball picking him out perfectly for him to chest and half volley through the legs of Mignolet, who could do little else as he came out, closed down and tried to make himself big.

17 - GOAL! Sion equalise!

16 - Allen and Lallana link up well and the former slips in Ings, but his shot is blocked by a defender and out for a corner. Can heads the resulting set piece wide.

15 - Resulting corner is cleared by Sion.

14 - Origi with a shot at goal this time. A lovely little Cruyff turn inside and a strike that is deflected away from goal - the rebound is collected by Ibe but he opts to try and beat the 'keeper at the near post having danced along the byline, when he really should have cut the ball back.

13 - Liverpool continuing to look the more likely to score the game's next goal though, with Ziegler's pass back to Vanins closed down well by Origi, though the 'keeper does clear well. Good work rate from the Belgian.

9 - Decent response from Sion, who have started to see a bit more of the ball. Origi is looking lively still at the other end though, with another positive dribble coming to nothing since the goal.

Origi drives down the right and uses his strength to see off his marker before cutting the ball back to Lallana, who finishes well. The England international may have been offside when he headed the ball down for Origi beforehand, however.

4 - GOAL! 1-0 Liverpool, Lallana with the strike.

3 - Lallana's free kick delivery is more like a shot and is saved by the 'keeper. Can and Lallana link up well to put a second ball in the box, but this one is caught well by Vanins, with no-one challenging him for it.

2 - Good work from Ibe brings about a free-kick near the corner flag on the left hand side.

We have kick off!

There's just over 20 minutes until kick-off now, so plenty of time to check out the preview for tonight's game still: read that here!

Nonetheless, one would expect those on the bench to get some minutes and some great experience as a result.

Perhaps a surprise to see so few youngsters in the starting line-up for Liverpool, with only Rossiter's inclusion really fitting that description. Many of our writers here at VAVEL certainly wanted to see more on show, as you can see in our chosen line-ups here.

FC SION: Vanins; Ziegler, Lacroix, Zerotic, Kouassi; Salatic, Pa Modou, Fernandez; Carlitos; Konate and Assifuah. Subs - Fickentscher, Vanczak, Ruefli, Ndoye, Mujanjgi Bia, Zeman and Follonier.

LIVERPOOL: Mignolet; Touré, Gomez, Can; Clyne, Lallana, Rossiter, Allen, Ibe; Origi and Ings. Subs - Bogdan, Sakho, Moreno, Brannagan, Randall, Chirivella and Coutinho.

With kick-off fast approaching, here are the confirmed team line-up's from both sides:

In terms of the group, the Reds need the win more too, having only managed a draw in round one. Sion will be content with a point in this fixture, especially with three points already on the board, and may come to Anfield playing for one as a result.

This game perhaps carries less significance in the grand scheme of the Merseysiders' season, with it being a group fixture, but in other ways it is even more crucial, with Rodgers still protecting his job and trying to help the team gather some momentum and find some good form.

Liverpool reached the semi-finals of the competition that year, defeating Norway's Brann 4-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals that followed, before being eliminated by eventual runners-up Paris Saint Germain in the last four, losing 3-2 over two legs.

A goal fest saved the Reds though, with Steve McManaman pulling one back before Stig Inge Bjørnebye equalised nine minutes into the second half. Chassot put Sion back in the lead again on the night 10 minutes later, but not for long, as Barnes made it 3-3 60 seconds later, before a brace from Fowler and a late strike by Patrik Berger ensured and confirmed the win.

In the game at Anfield, Sion actually had a 2-0 lead inside 23 minutes, Bonvin again on target after the club's now Director of Sport, Frédéric Chassot, opened the scoring.

Sion took the lead in their home game, Christopher Bonvin on target after only 11 minutes, but the Reds travelled back to Merseyside with the advantage in the tie after goals from Robbie Fowler and John Barnes turned things around for a 2-1 win.

These two have met twice before in their history, both games coming almost 20 years ago as they clashed in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1996. Liverpool were the victorious side in the two-legged second round tie, progressing thanks to a 8-4 win on aggregate.

Up front, Divock Origi should get a chance, whilst squad players such as Kolo Touré, the returning-from-injury Joe Allen and currently out-of-favour Joe Gomez are likely to be rotated back into the side. Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is also expected to start ahead of Simon Mignolet.

Rodgers is expected to give youth a chance instead, with Jordan Rossiter fully expected to start in midfield, whilst others are speculated to be involved - the likes of Jerome Sinclair and Pedro Chirivella.

The return of Sturridge was a big boost at the weekend in that win over Villa, but he is not expected to start in what will be a very different team, due to the looming Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will have five absentees through injury, albeit none of them fresh concerns. They coped without the likes of Christian Benteke, Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino last time out, whilst the injuries to Jordan Henderson and Jon Flanagan have been known for some time now.

The support of the midfield trio and two wide men allowed lone striker Moussa Konate to bag both goals in their first European game this season, and he will be one Liverpool must keep an eye on if they are to keep Sion at bay, with his movement in the box difficult for defenders to cope with.

The team play in a 4-5-1 formation, which offers them plenty of defensive support and structure, whilst the width of the set-up means they can be fantastic on the counter attack too, the formation essentially becoming a 4-3-3 on the front foot.

Sion will not be hindered at all by any injuries as they strive to cause an upset either, likely to deploy the same starting XI that beat Rubin Kazan.

One would expect Liverpool to see more than enough of the ball, the vast majority of possession in fact, whilst their opponents look to play on the break and use their pace and incisive passing to devastating effect.

The visitors will certainly be expected to play a different brand of football this evening though. They were open, expansive and attacking against Rubin Kazan, albeit on their own patch, and they are likely to approach this away trip much differently.

Thus, the Swiss will be keen to bounce back tonight, and what better way to do so than at Anfield on a European night?

Their latest defeat came in spite of their opponents having a man sent off a minute after half time, Philipp Muntwiler the offender, with Vaduz still going on to record a narrow win thanks to Stjepan Kukuruzovic's 74th minute effort.

Sion come into this fixture off the back of two straight league defeats, losing 2-0 at Grasshopper Club Zurich, the Super League's current second placed team, and then 1-0 at home to FC Vaduz at the weekend.

The Swiss side were able to take an advantage of being unknown into their last European outing, which resulted in a surprise 2-1 win at home to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan, but Liverpool are likely to know much more about them now, especially after that performance.

Still, to keep the pressure off himself, Rodgers will have to guide his side to another victory tonight against Group B's current leaders, Sion.

Rodgers was under massive pressure going into that fixture, with rumours circulating regarding his future and suggesting that the Reds had contacted other managers about the Northern Irishman's role, but he squashed that for the time being with the three points.

Vice-captain James Milner put Liverpool ahead within two minutes, whilst Sturridge bagged his brace in eight second half minutes, goals coming either side of the hour mark. Rudy Gestede grabbed a brace himself for Villa, that one coming in five minutes and each coming either side of Sturridge's second. However, Brendan Rodgers' men held on for the win - their first in the league since a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in mid-August.

The Reds put a very disappointing run of form to bed at the weekend as they overcame Aston Villa 3-2. Though the scoreline suggests they had difficulty getting the three points, Daniel Sturridge's presence inspired them to the win, with two sublimely taken goals making the fans forget about two sloppy ones conceded at the other end.

Having endured a poor four game winless streak in the Premier League, whilst drawing with Bordeaux in this competition and being taken to extra time and penalties against fourth-tier Carlisle United in the League Cup, Liverpool finally come into this fixture off the back of a victory.

Slavko Vinčić will be the referee at Anfield tonight, the Slovenian coming into the fixture having never taken charge of a match involving either side before. It is the second Europa League game he will have officiated this season, having overseen Astra Giurgiu's 3-2 win over AZ Alkmaar in qualifying.
