Alberto Moreno has insisted that it's taken him just two games to get to grips with what's required in a Merseyside derby, and revealed that he loves to play in these fixtures.

The Liverpool left-back has only featured twice against Everton since signing last summer, but told Premier League productions that he feels like he knows what the fixture is all about already.

Comparing it to a derby he has previously played in, between Sevilla and Real Betis, he offered the idea that much like the rivalry betwen Liverpool and Everton, the one in Spain is set in a "divided city", and fuelled by a "fantastic atmosphere".

Moreno loves to play in these games

Despite this, nothing can quite compare to that of the Merseyside derby, leading to Moreno assessing that "derbies are one-off games", but he believes "this one has a particularly individual aspect to it".

Although his team couldn't gain bragging rights in the city last season, with both games being drawn, the full-back explained how his derby debuts were "etched in my memory", aswell as telling reporters that he "loves" to play in these games.

Reds have more than bragging rights to worry about

Away from the spectacle of the derby, there is a much bigger storm brewing at Liverpool, with the team badly out of form this season.

They've won just three of their opening 10 games in all competitions within the 90 minute mark, and lie outside of the top four in the Premier League.

There were positive signs last weekend at Anfield, as Daniel Sturridge scored twice to help the Reds to a 3-2 win against Aston Villa, bringing back some faith in manager Brendan Rodgers and his team.

The challenge of Everton will be an entirely different one, but it's one that were Liverpool to come through with all three points, would kick-start their season.

Moreno concured with this idea, admitting that it's "such a vital game for us", and it was due to this that the Liverpool team will "give everything they possibly can to get the three points," in order to get back to the "upper reaches" of the Premier League.
