Former Brazilian right-back Cafu has praised Jon Flanagan once again, and has said he can become one of "best full-backs in the world" at Liverpool.

Cafu was one of the best right-backs in the world during his playing career, and believes the young Englishman can follow in his footsteps.

The Scouse Cafu

Cafu first noticed the young full-backs talent during the 2013-14 season, when Liverpool launched a title challenge, with youngster Flanagan playing a crucial role at left-back, netting his first goal in the 5-0 win against Spurs.

During that season, Cafu took to social media to express his positive views on the now 22-year-old.

As a result, Flanagan earned the nickname the 'Scouse Cafu', and then managed to meet the legendary Brazilian on the final day of that incredible, yet disappointing, season where Cafu also met with the rest of the squad.

He can be one of the best

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Cafu was asked if he really was a fan of Jon Flanagan and responded by saying "Sure. I paid him a visit not long ago; we had lunch and took some pictures together," before adding that Flanagan is now "very fit"  and has "everything required to be one of the best full-backs in the world."

Flanagan has been absent from the Liverpool first team since May 2014, due to picking up a serious injury.

He then had surgery on his knee, earlier this year, in an attempt to finally get rid of the problem. He is expected to make his long anticipated Liverpool return later this season.

Cafu's playing career regret

As well as heaping praise on Flanagan, he also had good things to say about former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, as well as the club itself.

On Gerrard he said "he is a great example of character for me", adding that he'd have "loved" to play in England, for a club such as the Reds.
