Jürgen Klopp has openly insisted that Liverpool were the only club he spoke to, before ending his sabbatical to take charge of the Reds earlier this week.

With Klopp having resigned from the Borussia Dortmund post at the end of last season, following years of success, there were a huge number of clubs linked with securing his services whilst he was on holiday.

The team that were most often linked were German heavyweights Bayern Munich, who are the fierce rivals of BVB. Reports had suggested that Klopp and his agent met with Bayern officials to discuss taking over from Pep Guardiola, however he comments make clear that this wasn't the case.

Bayern were never an option for Klopp

Despite revealing that he had recieved "concrete offers" to manage several clubs, Klopp told the media that Liverpool were the only club he "actually spoke to".

Although he spoke positively of Bayern, calling them a "fantastic club", Klopp explained that there was never any chance of him managing there.

He assured that media that he had "never talked to them [Bayern]", and hopes that Guardiola, current coach of the Bavarians, will stay there for "another 10 years".

The German also revealed that wanting to work abroad was one of the reasons he cut his holiday short, to take over at Liverpool after they sacked Brendan Rodgers.

Language barrier not a problem

Explaining that he wanted to work outside of his homeland as he was "up for a change", Klopp dispelled any concerns about English not being his first language by saying that it will be "just as bad" as that of Liverpool's contingent of foreigners.

Although he appeared to have grasped the language brilliantly in his first press conference, where he revealed his intentions to bring the good times back to L4, Klopp told of how he believed it wasn't always important to be fluent in a language, just to "say the right words at the right time".

Oppositely to having the ability to instruct his players well in English, the new Reds boss is keen to learn as much as he can about his current squad for the time being, and wishes to do so by being a good listener.

"I am so keen on listening to the people here, and getting to know everything", said Klopp. He appears to be true to his word, demonstrating his passion for getting to grips with the job by attending an U18's game on Saturday.
