Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has expressed his sadness at the sacking of Brendan Rodgers, whilst also describing his excitement to work under new boss Jürgen Klopp.

Rodgers was given his P45 last week after the 1-1 draw against Everton, with a series of poor performances culminating in him leaving his post with Liverpool 10th in the league table.

Hailed as a good developer of young players, Ibe was one who profited from Rodgers' time on L4, with the Ulsterman giving the English midfielder his debut in the first team, against Queens Park Rangers in May 2013.

Not only that, Rodgers also recalled Ibe from a loan spell at Derby County last season, giving him an extended run in the starting 11, where he established himself as a key member of the Liverpool squad.

Winger describes sadness at sacking

Hailing his now former boss as an "important man" in his career, Ibe told reporters that he thought the sacking was "a shame", whilst admitting that that's "how football is".

Having wished Rodgers "all the best for the future", the talented winger was clearly keen to move on from the saga, choosing to look ahead to what he can produce under new management.

Ibe ready to focus under Klopp

Ibe is yet to meet up with his new boss Klopp due to being on international duty with the England Under-21 side, but told of how he "can't wait to get back and start working with him".

He went on to say that now is the time to "focus", as he and his teammates look to recover from a disappointing start to the season. Going off the basis that Klopp had "done great stuff at Borussia Dortmund", it's fair to see that Ibe is optimistic about what the future holds.
