Dejan Lovren believes Liverpool can be proud of a "great week" after helping to secure a third victory in just eight days over Swansea City on Sunday - but challenged the team to keep it going.
The Reds followed up wins against Manchester City and Bordeaux with a welcome three points at Anfield as James Milner coolly converted from the penalty spot after the hour mark to send them up to sixth in the league.
Despite windy weather adding to their task, Jürgen Klopp's side coped admirably and even welcomed back Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge into the side from injuries on an afternoon full of positives.
Lovren was a crucial part of a sturdy back-four that didn't allow Swansea a single shot on target on the way to registering to a first clean sheet under Klopp since a goalless draw at Tottenham in mid-October.
Defender pleased with "great week" for the club
The Croatian described it as a "tough game" only exacerbated by having to play "against the wind" but hailed the squad's character to come out with the three points, which he said was the "most important thing" after a "not so easy" 90 minutes.
With the win putting them only six points off the summit of the Premier League table, Lovren hailed it a "great week" - after the monumental 4-1 victory at Manchester City, the 2-1 home win over Bordeaux in Europe and "now this one."
But though they are steadily rising up the table and improving game-by-game, the centre-back said they need to "keep working hard" and "be patient" as they continue their development under Klopp.
Regardless, the 26-year-old feels that they "deserved" their victory after a "tough game" against "an opponent having problems" because they demonstrated their quality defensively and in the final third.
Lovren added that the "most important thing" for Liverpool now is to maintain their "winning mentality" - praising the "great job" his team-mates are doing, saying they can be "proud" of themselves after taking a clean sheet and another three points.
Reds anticipating tough game against Saints, Lovren says
The Reds face a tough fixture away at Southampton in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup in midweek, as Lovren revisits his former club on the south coast.
And the centre-half is hoping to extend their promising run of form, saying they are "moving forward" to a "tough game" against a "good team" but declared they can approach the fixture with confidence because they are in a "good mood" and need to continue "like that."
