Unfortunately, that's all we've got time for tonight. I've been Oliver Emmerson, taking you through Liverpool's 6-1 demolition of Southampton. Goodnight!

There we go, no Merseyside Derby but two very intriguing ties. Everton have a very good record against Manchester City, but Manuel Pellegrini's men will surely be favourites for that one. It'll be interesting to see if Klopp's men are still flying when they play Stoke over two legs, hoping to firmly banish memories of that 6-1 loss in May.

Stoke City - Liverpool

Everton - Manchester City

Here we go... Everton are number one, Man City 2, Stoke 3 and Liverpool 4.

Of course, we're not done yet, with the semi-final draw coming up. Stoke City, Everton, Manchester City and Liverpool are the teams involved, with the potential for a Merseyside Derby in there.

That win is Liverpool's fourth on the bounce, and keeps up a remarkable set of domestic away results, having now beaten Chelsea, Manchester City and Southampton 1-3, 1-4 and 1-6. Southampton will have to wait until at least May to get their hands on some silverware, with the FA Cup now their only hope, alongside the Premier League.

Well, that was quite shocking to witness. Southampton conceding six goals at home, to a ruthless Liverpool side of the highest quality. Absolutely magical from Klopp's side, who booked their place in the last four with a 6-1 win. Daniel Sturridge got things going with a brace after Saido Mane had put Southampton ahead, before Divock Origi grabbed a hat-trick, and Jordon Ibe got one too.

Full time: Southampton 1-6 Liverpool

90: Two minutes of added time.

87: Well, we've seen some great crosses tonight, and Brad Smith's just delivered what might be the best. Making just his second senior performance for Liverpool, he's burst down the wing and put it on a plate for Origi, and the Belgian made no mistake in heading in for his third. 6-1!

GOAL! 6-1, ORIGI HAS A HAT-TRICK!

83: The ball bounces kindly in the air for Long, and he has one blocked on his weaker foot, before dragging an effort wide with his right.

80: 10 minutes of normal time left, will we see any more goals?

77: Last changes for each side, with Moreno off for Brad Smith for Liverpool, and Romeu replacing Davis for Southampton. In all the drama of the fifth goal, it was ignored that the away side made their second change, with Henderson on for Allen.

72: Moreno surges down the left wing and delivers a great cut-back cross for Ibe, from which the young winger converts, striking low into the bottom corner.

GOAL! IT'S FIVE, IT'S IBE!

69: Excellent from Ibe, and what a finish by Origi. The winger picks it up on the right hand side and cuts inside, executing a delightful through ball to Divock Origi, who silences his recent doubters by crashing a mightily impressive finish into the roof of the net. Surely now, Liverpool's passage to the semi-final is secured?

GOAL! Origi, 4-1!

66: Ward-Prowse steps aside for defender van Dijk to have a crack, but he blasts the set piece straight into a grateful Liverpool wall.

65: With Long having gone close, now it's the turn of Ward-Prowse to go for goal, with Lucas having brought down Mane. Emre Can was shown a yellow card for his protests, meaning he'll miss Sunday's game against Newcastle.

64: Long goes close with his first touch, but he can't get a header on target, after Tadic found him with a looping cross.

63: Two changes for Southampton, as Koeman chooses to twist. Shane Long and James Ward-Prowse enter the fray, coming on for Cedric Soares and Jordie Clasie.

59: Sturridge's comeback is done, no he's not injured, subbed off. Jordon Ibe comes on, which could stretch Southampton's back three.

57: Mane looks to sneak in behind, but good covering from Randall prevents his shot from reaching the Liverpool goalkeeper.

55: Good play from Lallana, who isn't getting a great welcome from the home fans. He twists and turns in the centre, beating Wanyama, but can only shoot wide.

50: Decent effort from Pelle, as his volley forces Bogdan into a save.

46: Tactical change for the Saints, but no substitutions from either side. Wanyama's dropped back into centre-back, with Cedric and Bertrand moving to wing back roles in a three, or five, man defence - depending on how you see it. I'd argue it's a 3-4-3, with Tadic and Mane playing off Pelle.

Second half kick-off

Going back to that third goal, it looks like it well may be awarded to Origi, giving him his first LFC goal. As Moreno's shot thundered back into the area, it flicked off the Belgian's foot and diverted slightly to go in. He was onside too, we should add.

Behind after 40 seconds, 3-1 up at half-time, excellent from Sturridge and Liverpool. Have they been value for such a big lead? Maybe not, but they were bossing the game by the end of the half, and it'll be interesting to see if the home side can get back in this.

Half time: Southampton 1-3 Liverpool

45: As two minutes of added time go up on the clock, Southampton head away a corner, which is drilled back in by Moreno, the ball finding its way into the bottom corner. 3-1 on the brink of half-time!

GOAL! 3-1, ALBERTO MORENO!

44: After a rather long wait, Sturridge curls the ball over the crossbar.

42: Lovely backheel from Sturridge sets Origi away, until he's brought down a few yards outside the area. Can and Sturridge are standing over the ball, with the latter seeking a first half hat-trick.

39: Just over five minutes until half-time, and Emre Can isn't happy about being penalised for what he though was a good challenge. He will be happy with his assist for the second goal though, which was an absolute peach.

33: Time to take a breath, perhaps? Liverpool are keeping the ball much better now, having grown into the game and the lead. It's now their fans that are bouncing, with the Reds having silenced Southampton's fans with two goals in a rather attractive black away kit.

30: In his first start under Klopp, Liverpool's main man has bagged two goals inside half an hour! Emre Can beat his man in the midfield, before chipping an excellent ball over the top of the defence, which Sturridge rattled home on his weak foot. 2-1 to the away side, a lead which they don't really deserve, but one they'll be delighted with.

GOAL! HE'S DONE IT AGAIN, 2-1 STURRIDGE!

26: Returning from injury with a bang, that's a fantastic goal from Sturridge. A fantastic lofted ball from Joe Allen seemed to have evaded the striker as he took a poor touch, but he recovered to jink around van Dijk and fire home from a difficult angle.

GOAL! It's 1-1, and none other than Danial Sturridge has scored!

17: The game has calmed down after something of a whirlwind start, something which might benefit Liverpool as they look to get back into the game. They've started in a diamond formation, with Origi partnering Sturridge, and it doesn't seem to be working.

10: First sight of goal for the visiting side, but Origi can only head wide from a corner.

8: Yellow card for Randall, not a surprise as he pushed Tadic.

5: Randall struggling at right back as Southampton get another cross in, with Bogdan this time saving Wanyama's header.

4: That's a terrible start for the Reds, but the perfect one for the home side. Booing Dejan Lovren every time he touches the ball, the home fans are in great voice.

1: Ryan Bertrand is given too much room to cross, and Saido Mane gets a run on Alberto Moreno to head Southampton ahead.

GOAL! Southampton lead after just 40 seconds!

Kick-0ff!

Liverpool are looking to reach their third semi final in five years tonight, whilst Southampton want to keep on track for their first trophy in this millenium.

So, the big news is obviously that Daniel Sturridge makes his first start for Liverpool in two months. He could target Steven Caulker, who starts in place of the injured Jose Fonte, whilst Dusan Tadic may fancy his chances against young Connor Randall at the other end.

Liverpool substitutes: Mignolet, Smith, Milner, Henderson, Benteke, Firmino, Ibe.

Southampton substitutes: Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Romeu, Martina, Ward-Prowse, Long, Juanmi.

Liverpool XI: Bodgan, Randall, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Allen, Can, Lucas, Lallana, Origi, Sturridge.

Southampton XI: Stekelenburg, Cedric, van Dijk, Bertrand, Clasie, Wanyama, Davis, Mane, Tadic, Pelle.

The starting XI's are in!

Three of the four quarter-finals were played last night, with each game seeing the favourite win. Manchester City saw off Hull City at home, winning 4-1, whilst Stoke City and Everton triumphed against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough respectively. The semi-final draw will be conducted after tonight's game, and we'll bring that to you live.

Admittedly, they are entering to the game off the back of varying weekend results. Southampton were left disappointed once more, as they lost 3-1 to Manchester City a week after going down at home to Stoke City, whilst Liverpool kept ticking over with a solid 1-0 home triumph against Swansea City. Due to this, the Saints might possibly have added motivation to avoid another defeat, however they may also suffer from a lack of confience.

It's worth remembering that one of those six home games for the German, saw tonight's two teams play each other. A thumping header from Christian Benteke put the Reds 1-0 ahead, only for Saido Mane to capitalise on poor defending to head home with just a few minutes left on the clock. Will we see a similar story tonight? It remains to be seen.

Whilst you might count the home side as slim favourites for tonight's tie, Klopp's exceptional away record since taking over on Merseyside must be taken into account. Four of his first 10 games have been away from home, and after drawing against Tottenham Hotspur, he's led his team to successive away wins against Rubin Kazan, Chelsea and Manchester City. The latter two were the most impressive, as Liverpool won 1-3 and 1-4 against two of the best teams in the division.

Unlike Southampton, Liverpool have had two different managers for their two different matches so far. Brendan Rodgers was still in charge as the Reds scraped past Carlisle United on penalties after a 1-1 draw, in what proved to be one of the final games during the Ulsterman's reign. Danny Ings' goal was cancelled out after just 12 minutes, and it took three penalty shoot-out saves from Adam Bogdan to see them through. Jürgen Klopp had taken over by the time the Reds hosted Bournemouth in the 4th round, and Nathaniel Clyne's first half goal was enough to see them through.

Ronald Koeman's Saints wasted no time in getting to grips with the League Cup, hammering MK Dons 6-0 away from home on a chilly September evening. Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long and Saido Mane all bagged braces, in a complete rout. Things weren't quite as easy in the 4th round, as they played host to a managerless Aston Villa side. The Villans did put up a spirited fight, but couldn't quite match the hosts' quality, as second half goals from Mayo Yoshida and Graziano Pelle made sure that Scott Sinclair's 90th minute penalty was nothing more than a mere consolation.

Both teams have been involved in European competition, which affected the stage at which they entered the tournament. Liverpool are still going strong in the group stage of the Europa League, and although Southampton were knocked out in the qualifying rounds, they both still started in the 3rd round.

So, here we are, with each team just one step away from a semi-final place, the stakes are high, and we could see an extremely tense affair. Let's begin by taking a look at how each side has reached this stage of the competition.

Hello there, and welcome to VAVEL UK's live minute-by-minute commentary of this evening's Capital One Cup quarter-final tie, between Southampton and Liverpool.
