Liverpool were once again involved in a thrilling match against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

A match with just 10 shots on target somehow resulted in nine goals in a back-and-forth affair as Jürgen Klopp's side came from 3-1 down to win 5-4 at Carrow Road.

Roberto Firmino had put the hosts ahead, before Norwich equalised through Dieumerci Mbokani. Steven Naismith capped his debut with a goal, before winning a penalty after the break which Wes Hoolahan swept home to make it 3-1.

But Reds' captain Jordan Henderson reduced the deficit to one inside a minute, before Firmino added a second with a well-taken finish. Liverpool stole the lead again as James Milner made the most of a poor backpass to round Declan Rudd and finish.

With just minutes remaining, Liverpool looked they were going to see out the victory but Sebastien Bassong's long-range drive from a loose ball brought them level.

In one of the most dramatic and entertaining Premier League games ever seen, substitute Adam Lallana fired into the top corner in the dying seconds to give the visitors a memorable victory.

Reds take the lead but defensive errors haunt them

Despite Norwich City’s lively start, it was Liverpool was who would find the breakthrough early in the first-half. With the first shot of the game, Roberto Firmino’s left-footed shot deflected off Declan Rudd into the far side post and in. Firmino was assisted by James Milner, who set up the Brazilian with a perfectly timed through ball.

Milner had a chance to double Liverpool’s advantage on a clear chance, but he took too long to shoot, allowing Robbie Brady to recover and snuff out the attack.

Liverpool’s set-piece woes continued to haunt them as their inability to properly clear a corner led Norwich’s equalizing goal. Graham Dorrans sent the ball back into the area after Jordan Henderson’s clearance and the ball fell to the feet of Dieumerci Mbokani who neatly put the ball into the back of the net with a backheel, beating both Mamadou Sakho and Simon Mignolet.

Ex-Evertonian Steven Naismith put his new team ahead late in the second half. Norwich had been building pressure of the Liverpool defense, and new man found the net with a low driven shot to the far post on his debut, right under the hand of Mignolet. The Reds’ goalkeeper will regret not doing better on the go-ahead goal.

Thrilling second half produces six more goals

The second half would not look any brighter as Alberto Moreno’s reckless challenge took down Naismith inside the Liverpool box for a penalty. Wes Hoolahan’s attempt from the spot was nearly saved by Simon Mignolet, but his trailing leg narrowly missed the ball as Norwich went up by two.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson brought the Reds immediately back into the game a minute later. Surging forward, Nathaniel Clyne’s initial cross was flicked on to an unmarked Henderson by Firmino and his shot nestled into the bottom left corner of the net.

In a game that kept producing goals, Liverpool found their way level as Roberto Firmino scored his second of the match. Adam Lallana had just been on the pitch for four minutes before he found Firmino unmarked in the box with a beautiful cross as Liverpool capitalized on the break, Firmino flicking over the oncoming Rudd for a brace.

James Milner then made amends for his earlier missed chance to miraculously take Liverpool ahead 4-3, after going down by two goals. Russell Martin blindly played a weak backpass that Milner found himself on the end of. With one step to the right of Rudd, Milner finished the job with a shot into middle of the open net.

Liverpool steal it at the death

As if seven goals weren't enough, centre-back Sebastien Bassong brought the home team level once more in stoppage-time. In the second of five added minutes, a long free-kick fell to the feet of Bassong who smashed the ball home from outside the box.

But Norwich hearts would be crushed in the end as substitute Lallana's strike late into stoppage time secured all three points for the Reds, sending Jürgen Klopp and the away fans into absolute raptures. The Canaries struggled to clear the ball out of their area as Lallana lashed home a half clearance.

In a game that Norwich lead by two goals at one time, Carrow Road was almost silent as the supporters tried to grasp how their side escaped the fixture with no points, with the jubilant away contingent the only noise that could be heard after an enthralling afternoon.
