Jordan Rossiter has revealed that he hopes to be back in training at Melwood again within the next couple of weeks as he continues his rehabilitation from an ongoing hamstring problem.

The Liverpool midfielder hasn't featured since sustaining the injury in their goalless Europa League draw away at FC Sion in early December, his only appearance under Jürgen Klopp since his appointment.

The 18-year-old has been denied any other outings under the German due to a hamstring issue which he first picked up when he played three games in as little as five days for England Under-19s in their European Championship qualifying group.

The no-nonsense Scouser is now finally closing in on a return to training with his teammates and his hoping to make up for lost time.

Teenager hoping for sustained spell back from injury

Rossiter, who has enjoyed a memorable season despite his injuries, making his senior debuts in European football and in the Barclays Premier League, told Liverpoolfc.com that he's "doing quite well" and his injury is "progressing well" at the moment.

He said that he's "hopefully looking to be running around the next two weeks" having been out for "around eight weeks now" and insisted that whilst it's "frustating" there should be "better things to come."

The teenager explained that he picked up a hamstring injury which kept him out for a while before he was "back fit for two weeks" and called it "frustrating" to pick up another injury soon after.

But Rossiter remains hopeful about the situation, saying he hopes it "all turns around soon" and he can "get a bit of luck" in his recovery.

I want to emulate Flanagan's return, says Rossiter

The highly-rated Academy graduate, whose current Anfield deal runs out in the summer, insists he is relishing the chance to prove his worth to Klopp after such a lengthy spell out.

Rossiter explained how he is "working hard in the gym" every day and called it "a bit frustrating" to "look outside and see everybody frustrating."

But the tough-tackling midfielder says he's using his teammates, particularly Jon Flanagan, as inspiration, adding: "I know I'll hopefully get my chance in matches and in training."

He said he's "always got to work hard" and took belief from Flanagan, talking about how the local-born full-back "was out for around 18 to 20 months" and how he has "come back in and done brilliantly in the Stoke game and Exeter game."

"It's something I'll look to do," vowed the Englishman, who has only made one league appearance for the club so far. He also stated that he's galvanized by the chances Klopp has handed several fellow Academy prospects.

Midfielder delighted to see Reds' youngsters make an impact

"It's great to see," said the England U19 international, who said that "everybody's playing well" when they've been given the chance, adding that "the likes of Cameron Brannagan, Connor Randall, Kevin Stewart" have all impressed.

He vowed that he'll be ready to capitalise if he's given a similar opportunity, insisting: "I know my chance is there when I do get back" and adding that he's "made up for the lads" and "couldn't be happier for them" for doing "brilliantly" when given the opportunity.
