Mario Gotze is open to a summer move to Liverpool, satisfying his wish to be re-united with Jürgen Klopp, according to reports in the English media.

The 23-year-old has grown frustrated at Bayern Munich since leaving Borussia Dortmund two years ago, struggling to get into the first team recently, whilst battling a string of injuries.

Gotze wants to kick-start his career under Klopp

The likes of the Guardian and Express are suggesting that he's hoping to link up with Liverpool boss Klopp in order to get his career back on track, with the German boss making his former player a top target for the summer window.

Klopp managed Gotze for four years during his time in Germany before the then 20-year-old made a high profile move to bitter rivals Bayern. It's believed that the pair have kept up a good relationship, and the World Cup winner is hoping to kick-start his career under his old boss.

Reds could get talent for a sound price

After the conclusion of the season, Gotze will only have 12 months left on his contract in Munich, leaving the German giants open to negotiating. It's though that, given his contract situation, Liverpool could purchase the attacking midfielder for in the region of £15-£20million.

That sort of price, seen by many as a bargian, would leave room for other targets, with left-back Jonas Hector another reported player Klopp would like to bring over from the Bundesliga.

Klopp's transfer kitty is also set to be increased with a number of summer sales, now that the German has had over half a season to fully assess his Liverpool squad. Christian Benteke is a player who's likely to be told he has no future at Anfield.
