Liverpool are edging closer to the capture of Southampton forward Sadio Mane, with the Senegalese international set to have a medical on L4 during Monday, after his club accepted a bid in the region of £30million for his services.

The Reds have made Mane a top target in recent months, with him becoming their number one priority after interest for the likes of Mario Gotze and Ousmane Dembele faded, and it looks like they've finally got their man.

Liverpool sign Southampton star, ring a bell?

Talks with Southampton have been ongoing for some time now, and it's thought that the South Coast club have finally settled for a deal worth £30million, having initially demanded a sum closer to £40million, as Liverpool aimed to buy their fifth player from the club within 24 months.

Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren have all joined in the past couple of years, and Mane is likely to sign up as the latest arrival in the next few days, with contract talks set to accompany Monday's medical.

Liverpool's summer work continues ahead of new season

After bolstering his squad already this summer with the signing's of Loris Karius and Joel Matip, Jürgen Klopp will be delighted to capture Mane, who scored four times against the Reds last season.

Whilst some have their doubts over his consistency, he certainly has the quality to score from wide areas, plus blistering pace, something that Klopp has previously admitted his Liverpool squad is lacking in.

Once that bit of business is done, Liverpool are likely to move on to their pursuit of a left back and centre midfielder, hoping to have all of their dealings done well in time for the opening weekend visit to Arsenal, with the new Premier League season less than two months away.
