As England crashed out of Euro 2016 in the round of 16 in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Iceland, five English internationals will return to Liverpool’s pre-season squad in time for their USA Tour.

Reds striker Daniel Sturridge featured in the Iceland defeat for the full 90 minutes and to many Liverpool fan' delight, came out unscathed despite the disappointment of defeeat.

Adam Lallana played in three of England’s Euro 2016 matches and performed well in all matches, while Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Clyne both only featured against Slovakia. James Milner’s only participation in the tournament was as a late sub in their group opener against Russia.

Sturridge was the only Liverpool player to score for England at the tournament,, netting the matchwinner in the 91st minute against Wales in a 2-1 victory for the Three Lions.

Klopp has stated that he will give players involved in the Euros at least three weeks to recover before returning to pre-season training.

Liverpool’s USA Tour begins on July 28th when they take on Chelsea in Pasadena, then on July 30th the Reds face AC Milan in Santa Clara before finally playing against Roma in St. Louis on August 1st.

Liverpool then return to England where they face Barcelona in Wembley on August 6th. They will conclude their pre-season fixtures in Opel Arena against Klopp's former team FSV Mainz 05 on August 7th.

It is vital that Klopp has as many Liverpool players back in pre-season training as early as possible to ensure they are at their maximum fitness level and new signings have gelled together with the current squad for the coming Premier League season.

Still representing Liverpool at Euro 2016

Liverpool still have players currently participating at the Euros, with Danny Ward and Joe Allen are still at the tournament with Wales. Allen has vastly impressed for Chris Coleman's side and he was voted man of the match by in their 2-1 victory against Slovakia.

Simon Mignolet, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke are still involved with Belgium. Both Benteke and Origi have two substitute appearances to their names, however neither have scored. Emre Can is also still at the Euros with Germany but he is yet to feature for the current world champions.

Allen will face teammates Origi and Benteke in the quarter-finals on July 1st, while Can’s Germany will take on Italy in a highly anticipated fixture on July 2nd.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have four small domestic friendlies against Tranmere RoversFleetwood TownWigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town in order to prepare Klopp’s men for the USA Tour as Klopp admitted himself that he sees friendlies as “glorified training sessions”. Klopp also admitted that the Liverpool players face their toughest pre-season yet.
