Neither Divock Origi or Christian Benteke will play a part in Liverpool's International Champions Cup game against Chelsea in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The pair were left at the club's American training base in Pato Alto whilst the rest of the touring party flew to Los Angeles for the friendly game, set to be played in front of over 50,000 people at the Rose Bowl.

English five in, Belgian duo out

With the Belgian contingent of those two, plus Simon Mignolet, having only returned to training this week following Euro 2016, manager Jürgen Klopp has deemed that they'd be better off continuing their fitness work in Pato Alto, whilst Mignolet was a more obvious choice to travel due to his position of goalkeeper.

Some of the Liverpool players who represented England at the Euros, Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne, have travelled to LA, despite having returned just a day prior to their Belgian counterparts.

Others missing through injury as Grujic and Ojo hope to impress

Liverpool will also be without the likes of Lucas Leiva, Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip for the match, all out through injury. Ragnar Klavan is set to make his debut alongside Dejan Lovren in defence, whilst their could be another opportunity for Marko Grujic to impress after he scored two goals in as many games back in England.

Sheyi Ojo, who missed the start of pre-season training to represent England at the European Under-19 Championship, has flown out to meet up with the squad and could be in line for some minutes against Antonio Conte's Blues. He comes into the fixture in good form, having helped England to the semi-final stage with three assists to his name.

The Reds will be hoping to continue their 100% record in pre-season, having won four matches back on English shores already, ahead of Thursday morning's game.
