After missing more than half of the 2013/2014 season recovering from injuries, the Montenegrin striker Stevan Jovetic declared after Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Southampton last Saturday that he is fully recovered and ready to play and help his teammates in what is expected to be a tough game against Liverpool next Sunday. Both teams will continue their battle to lift the Barclays Premier League title at the end of the season.

“The next game against Liverpool will decide a lot of things, but even if we win that game there are more hard games to come”, he said.

Jovetic has shown a lot of confidence regarding Manchester City’s triumph in the competition, especially because of the huge experience that the Citizens have gained from the 2012 title when they were taken to the glory by the Italian boss Roberto Mancini. Because of that experience, the striker said that Manchester City have a small edge over their opponents in the league title race.

“This squad has a lot of experience because we won the Premier League two years ago. We know how to play and keep the pressure down, and I think Liverpool have more pressure”, told Jovetic, who added: “I think we are going to win”.

The Montenegrin, who has scored only two goals in the Premier League this season, also explained that they are not targeting a simple draw against Liverpool away from home next weekend and admitted he is looking forward to going to the pitch in order to show his best for the team.

“We always play the same way, because we only know how to play offensively. I can’t wait for the game, because they have very good players and good squad. A draw would be good but I think we are the team that always goes for the victory and I hope it will be the same at Anfield”, he said.

Jovetic knows how difficult his first season in England has been. When he left the Italian club Fiorentina last summer to sign for Manchester City he was seen as one of the biggest young players in Europe. But just at the beginning of this season he suffered calf and hamstring injuries, so he could not play with his new teammates and prove his worth in Manchester. But last Saturday he scored once in Man City’s 4-1 win over Southampton.

“I am happy for my goal but especially for the victory because now we have seven games, seven finals, and hopefully at the and we will win the league. I have been fit for the last four games, but played in the first one against Fulham, was on the bus for the next two, and then played and scored against Southampton. I am fit and feel good every time I play. I am ready, and know I can do very good things this club”.
