It's been a week of woe for Manuel Pellegrini and his budding Premier League champions, and despite showing admirable courage to almost wrestle back a draw against Liverpool last Sunday, their 2-2 draw with Sunderland on Wednesday night provided an unrestricted view of the Chilean's naivety in the league this season.

However, the Sun report that City chiefs will stick with the 60-year-old despite the sudden crash. The invention and carnivorousness in attack Manchester City have shown under his guidance has tortured a considerable chunk of their league opposition this term with huge victories against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal marking their ruthlessness going forward. However, complacency against teams the blues would expect to beat has ultimately sealed their fate in the title race, but the club are confident Pellegrini will address these issues next season.

According to the Mirror, Inter Milan are planning a summer swoop for Manchester City striker Edin Džeko. Inter president Erick Thohir has admitted his club are in the market for a high-profile striker and suggested that he has plenty of candidates to choose from.

(Džeko would command a substantial fee after joining the blues for £27m back in 2011)

"We will sign a striker in the summer and he will be of European standard," Thohir told Gazzetta dello Sport. "We have a lot of candidates in our list.

"We have to sign a striker and reports point to Džeko, (Real Madrid forward Alvaro) Morata and Torres, and it would be great if one of them was to join us."

Football Direct News believe Paris Saint Germain are confident of beating Manchester City in the race for FC Barcelona full-back Dani Alves. Rumours suggest the Catalan side could sell if a tempting bid was tabled as they run the risk of allowing the player to leave on a costless when his deal expires next year.

In other news, former City manager Roberto Mancini believes that Samir Nasri is throwing away his chance at becoming a world-class player. In yet another instance of the Italian sticking his nose in, Mancini told ESPN that he did 'everything' he could to bring the Frenchman to the club, but was never repaid by the 26-year-old.

"Samir is a player who has incredible qualities but a productivity that bears no comparison with his talent," Mancini said.

"He didn't understand that you always have to give your best."

"It really pains me. I did everything so that he'd come [to Manchester City] and he settled for the minimum," Mancini added.

"He's a player who has the ability not to be a good player but to be a world-class player. What a pity that he won't even play in the World Cup."

And finally, the Premier League appear to have more faith than most City fans after preparing a three-way championship climax on May 11th. The Daily Mail report that the league have ordered a third set of medals in case Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are all in contention for the title on the final day.
