According to Duncan Castles of the Sunday Times and Goal, Eliaquim Mangala has agreed to join Manchester City.

The Premier League champions have reportedly agreed a £31.8m deal with FC Porto for the centre-back who is scheduled to join pre-season training after a post-World Cup holiday. Mangala failed to feature in any of France's five World Cup fixtures in Brazil.

The blues were understood to have secured an outline deal with AS Roma's Mehdi Benatia as an insurance policy if Mangala chose to reject the club, but the Frenchman's decision now means Manuel Pellegrini's hunt for a central defender is over. City were close to signing Mangala in January, but their failure to capture their number one target saw the 23-year-old linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Mangala could have his medical with the club as early as tomorrow.
