Manchester City have announced Nissan is the become the club’s Official Automotive Sponsor and also the Official Lead Partner for the women’s side, MCWFC. They become the latest sponsor to join the City Football Group, a small group of clubs owned and linked to Manchester City by the owners of the Premier League Champions.

In May, City invested in Japanese side Yokohama F Marinos, a side owned by Nissan Motors adding that side to the City Football Group (albeit owning only a minority share, with Nissan still owning the majority) and creating a partnership with the car manufacturers. Since then, the relationship has blossomed and led to this deal between City and Nissan being struck.

As well as being linked with City and the benefits that brings due to exposure, Nissan will also have their logo printed on the rear of the shirts worn by the women’s team for the rest of the current season, as well as 2014-15 and beyond.

The chairman of City, Khaldoon al Mubarak also revealed his thoughts on the deal: “we are delighted to be working with Nissan as CFG’s first group-wide global partner.  Nissan is a leader in innovation and sustainability; values which are also at the heart of our own organisation."

“Through our investment in, and support of, the Yokohama F• Marinos it has become very clear that Nissan and CFG also share a common passion and ambition for further growth and development. As a result, this new partnership presents us both with incredibly exciting opportunities to collaborate through football both in Japan and across the world.”
