According to the Manchester Evening News, James Milner is keen to stay at Manchester City but wants guarantees that he will feature on a more regular basis before committing his future to the club.

The 28-year-old made just 12 starts in City's title winning campaign last term and is desperate to make a greater contribution to the club who paid £26m for his services in 2010. Milner's current deal expires in the summer of 2015 and as of January next year, the England international will be able to speak to other clubs and leave on a costless transfer at the end of the season.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland are all believed to have approached Manchester City about the player's availability, but the midfielder is willing to see out his present deal before making a decision on his future.

City remain insistent that Milner is a valuable member of their squad and have informed potential suitors that they have no intention of selling the player.
