According to the Daily Express, Micah Richards is hoping Manchester City will allow him to leave the club on loan this summer.

The fan favourite has been left surplus to requirements following the arrival of Bacary Sagna on a costless transfer in June. Richards, who made his first team debut nine years ago, made just two league appearances for the Premier League champions last term and is now the club's third choice right-back.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all believed to have approached City regarding the availability of the 26-year-old but have been put off by his £7m price tag. The defender is desperate to get back to playing first-team football and will ask the club to facilitate a loan move in the coming days.

However, City chiefs may be reluctant to grant Richards his wish as a season-long loan would amount to allowing the player to leave on a costless transfer at the end of the season.
