According to the Guardian, Javi García is set to join Zenit St Petersburg in a £13m deal.

The 27-year-old is expected to be announced as a Zenit player this Thursday. García signed for the blues in a £16m deal from Benfica in 2012 but has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular since moving to Manchester.

The arrival of Fernando Reges from FC Porto has seen the midfielder fall further down the pecking order at the club and his departure will reduce City's number of non-homegrown players to 17. Manchester City are currently limited to 16 non-homegrown players, but Álvaro Negredo is likely to be excluded by Pellegrini after breaking his metatarsal.
